James 1:26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. :27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
And none of it buys joy. You invest time, effort and money searching for joy mistakenly believing ‘things’ and the value definition you give them will give you this. Not realising it gives you the short term dopamine hit.
So very very true. It's all so temporary, and if you live for things on this earth, the "crash" after the dopamine hit will be so much worse when those things break or are taken away.
We believe that relationship with Christ doesn’t rely on religious effort, but rather on the efforts of God our Father instead. Religion says that somehow we can earn something from God, but it’s the free gift of Christ’s salvation that sets us free.
Thanks for this! Often people believe this refers to circumstances in life, but the Bible is actually referring to being tempted to sin against God...that temptation can be overcome and you can be victorious. This isn't necessarily referring to the hardships and pains you endure in life. God does want us to rely on him, to trust in Him, and to connect with a body of believers. Sometimes life is more than we can handle, but it's never more than HE can handle.
1 Corinthians 10:13 King James Version 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13. God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able. When you are tempted he will show you a way out so that you can endure it.” Sounds pretty close. Psalms 55:22 “Give your burdens to the Lord and he will take care of you. He will not permit the Godly to slip and fall.”

Hi there. Many people cite 1 Corinthians 10:13 as an example of what you're referring to.
1st Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. This is basically saying that God will not give you more than you can handle and if it becomes to much he will Create a way for you to endure it. So to say that this doesn't mean what you think is to call God a Liar
When it comes to this verse, many people believe this refers to circumstances in life, but the Bible is actually referring to being tempted to sin against God...that temptation can be overcome and you can be victorious. This isn't necessarily referring to the hardships and pains you endure in life. God does want us to rely on him, to trust in Him, and to connect with a body of believers. Sometimes life is more than we can handle, but it's never more than HE can handle. So it isn't about calling God a Liar, but rather to understand what He was saying in Galatians refers to burdens and hardship that we need help to endure. This isn't about sin and temptation, but the pains of life. Hope that made sense!
LOVE this! Was just saying to one of my friends researching what was said it is original language (& getting the context) is a game changer for depth of understanding...
