That's awesome! Thanks supporting the homie! I got upgraded lower hingepins when you need a set of those. I'm the only one making them out of a very specific material.
My biggest disappointment with the Kagamar is the fact it didn't come with the HD wheeliebar/ wingmount. It really should've came with it. Needs slight modification to fit, just a trim one tab and drilling a few holes. But it fixed the wing stanchion failure problem and adds more structure to the rear bulkhead, tieing everything together for extra strength. The GLRC 3d printed wingmount I'm still testing the v2. So I'm not giving out my final opinion on that one yet. Shock standoffs are a bit disappointing, but they're not horrible. To a bunch of crashes to break one, but they are a weak point. And it needs 4 longer screws going up from the chassis into the bulkheads to help keep the diff access door secured so diffs don't get stripped. If you contact me on Facebook, I'll send you diagram showing you what screws in talking about. Servo saver came too tight from the factory causing premature servo failure. After adjusting saver to looking, the servo saver nut seemed to back off, some blue locktite cured that. Other than that, it's damn near perfect.
That's unfortunate about your senton. Id recommend take apart the power module and inspect the gears. Could be multiple things. Make sure the teeth are good. Be sure the pinion is secure to the motor shaft, they're know come loose. Check to see if the motor mounting plate is bent. Thanks for the sub buddy!
I'll be completely honest, I don't have much on road experience. But if I was to start trying road racing, I would start with GRP tires. I've seen alot good stuff with products.
No worries. In all fairness, that chassis was 3 years old. I'm surprised it didn't break sooner. I'll get her a new chassis coming soon and she'll be rip ready in no time.
@@captaincouldverc 👍 mines taking some serious abuse and lived and once it just landed straight down on the wheelie bar from about a ft n a half and snapped right there where yours seems too have. Everything has a breaking point. Your Mt8 is looking like a real contender these days. 👍
I am adding a dual fan setup to mine, I'm running on 6s and it has thermaled (new word?) all but one pack. And I am not a Throttle Snatcher, so going sensored for the added throttle control is a MUST.👍🏾
Awesome you found this info useful for your mt8. If you have Facebook, I help run Team Associated Rival mt8 page. Lots of valuable mt8 info there with lots of helpful tips. Also if you want upgraded hingepins or carbon fiber center braces, you can hit me on Facebook. Link in the description.
@@AmpRC Yeah I tend to tame my cars back. Mine is probably 5-10mph slower than stock. I do that mainly cause I don't need all that excess speed and it helps the electronics last longer while not getting so hot. Plus it helps make it easier to control while still having the 6s punch of power that 4s power is lacking.
There are also some decent aftermarket aluminum upgraded driveshafts out there now. I watched the video on one that was hot racing that makes it 22.99 Amazon
The rocks are ridiculous they get jammed in every little crack even on the Traxxas. I like how the VXL slash is it has a plastic cover over aluminum driveshaft it protecting it
Rcawd shocks big bore s are working great on my granite . They have a nut on top of the piston , top and bottom are metal , no leaks on my example s and they get pounded form 6-10’ high jumps . Got 90 wt in there . Also , the top shock mount protector thst is wider holes closer tot he wheel to go with the arrma wide kit ( best upgrade👍) . I had some 4s lp s on a granite with the wide kit. It was so fun I’m going back to it after trying stock for a week . I need to know again , lol
Yeah these tires are worth looking into. At almost half the price of the real ones, I think it's a steal of a deal now that I've know they're of good quality.
There's a few ways to do it, but I've found an issue since loosening it. It started to work itself completely loose once I adjusted it to a more loose position. The best way to ensure it doesn't slip on you in the future is to completely remove the bellcrank assembly, remove the nut, add blue loctite, then reinstall to desired tension. This new saver design has habit of working itself loose, so loctite is huge must do of you don't want it to completely loosen on you every 3-4 battery packs. When it completely loosens, you'll lose steering ability.
Thanks man. This has got to be one of my favorite videos I did on this truck. I think it really showcases the truck's durability and performance very well.
@@captaincouldverc absolutely you really give it some abuse and it just takes it. One of the most durable RC cars once it’s had the EXB mods and Captains touch 😍😍😍
Diffs are fine buddy. It was the spur gear going out due to a worn out bearing. The wait time for the parts was 3 weeks, so I just sent it. I had video obligations to fulfill for a channel sponsor. I didn't have the luxury of waiting for the parts.
No stock electronics. I have a hobbywing combo. It's the old NON SENSORED hobbywing max10sct combo with the 3660/3200kv combo. The new quicrun 10bl120g2 is basically the exact same combo. It's 4s capable, but I prefer the car on 3s. When you put this car on 4s it makes it unreliable and uncontrollable. Even on 3s with taller gearing, I have hard time keeping driveshafts intact.
@@captaincouldverc ah okay! Looks like you could do tripple backflips on some of the bowl transfers! Im thinking of buying a mt10 and put a max10g2 140a and a 3665 3200kv motor and both sensored. Might do it this week. Heard many people say that when using the mt10 on 4s it becomes much more fragile due to the weight. Granite seems to be ok on 4s so mt10 should but idk. Will start on 3s and then we will see. What upgrades should I focus on right out of the box? I will get the motor mount and thinking of replacing arms with rpm as they break. Any other upgrades i should do right out of the box?
@t3floz Aluminum motor mount, arms and a remote+receiver would be my very first suggestions especially with that combo cause that motor is heavy. The stock remote is glitchy and has a bad a delay. Would also recommend replacing the motor mount screw with a 5mm shorter screw plus a castle-lock washer and remove that spring. This will give it a more secure clamping force on the mount, making it more difficult to shift and ruin gear mesh.
@@insanebmxthomas Makes my heart smile that you noticed it. I try wear these types of shirts in my videos. If RU-vid won't let me condemn my government with my voice, I'll do it with my shirts. 😆
Hey Bob! Things are improving. Had a bit of a situation at the end of May through the first couple weeks of July. So I just took a break from filming for a bit. Then we got hit by that solar storm which gave us such a nasty heatwave. Freaking 80f nights for almost 2 weeks with 115+ without a functional AC was super draining.
Awesome! The mount alone is a game changer for harder bashing with a larger motor. I still haven't stripped a spur gear since installing it. One day I'll get the Bashbar. It looks pretty awesome.
I had no luck with mine. Things kept breaking on it except the Kaiju parts I used so I just stayed with Kaiju. But glad yours has been good. But I got something interesting cooking up soon for my Kaiju Ext...
Mine has been on a long journey to find the right combo of parts to unlock the true potential of it. Took a few years of trial and error, but now I'm at the point where, the car just won't break much anymore and I'm outta things to upgrade 😅 😆 I will say, with almost 3 years of abuse on it, the chassis is finally ready to be replaced. The stamps have flattened and its getting floppy. Still drives great though 😆 🤣
I'm disappointed in TA over this truck. There's no excuse for them not addressing its issues yet. They'd rather mark it down and sell it as is. The mark down proves it's not selling and everyone in the hobby knows why. There's no reason to buy it when it cost as much as other trucks in the category that are more sorted. If this truck was as durable as the MT10 it'd be some upgraded electronics from class leading. As it is its earned it's spot at the bottom. I wouldn't be sure even at it's sale price of $399 that it's the best truck you can get for that money
That's not exactly true. They revised their plastics, still not great yet and every order gets a service pack with the new stuff. However, some revised stuff is still weak like the cheese made turnbuckles, or it has a flawed seem such as these silly shaped rodends. This car I have less money into than my other bashers, and it's the most reliable one I got. Honestly it breaks less than my mt0. That little things still chews up axles and the upgrade they provide is even worse than stock. To me, it don't matter what TA does or doesn't do with it next cause too many people are quick to believe paid bad actors and false internet rumors vs researching for themselves. That's what ruined this trucks future. TA tried. This truck truly don't much to be amazing.
*This is nearly the perfect bashing truck, I wish they would release a 1:6 version of this that they have sent back to their R&D team, telling them they better give it their ALL! Associated has the potential to make one of the very best RC trucks out there! I would love to own an actual XMaxx/Kraton killer from them as they have always been a quality company that has truly been around the longest!!!*
Have you seen that new redcat vigilante? That's is going to be the next xmaxx/ kraton killer. Companies are already working on a bunch of parts for it.
@@captaincouldverc I already think my Vigilante is better than my Xmaxx. It drives better, it handles better and it definitely lands jumps better. Now that Vitavon has made a motor mount to put a big motor in it it'll close to gap to my big Arrma rigs. Brand loyalty or just not knowing it exist is the only reason anyone is still buying the Xmaxx. That and the Vigilante is and has been out of stock practically since launch. It's a great truck and costing a little less than the competition is icing on the cake.
@@boduke9428 Yeah man that truck is looking like it's going to be a thorn in the shoe of Brandfans once redcat gets their stock replenished. I don't think they anticipated selling as many as they did to be honest. It looks like it really don't need much. Motor mount is already in the works. Redcat is already working on better hardened diffs. So hopefully, soon there will be a vigilante haunting every arrma and traxxas for our entertainment 😆
_Low key amazing content right here! My question is why the fuck did Associated NOT release this truck with these changes from factory or as a revision! Big missed opportunities for them to put out an amazing, quality, durable product! There is truly not enough content on this platform in regards to this truck! Much enjoyed CCRC!_
I seen they tighten the slipper just until the wheels start skidding . With the 2.0 driver in the slipper they push fwd and when it drags the back wheels yer good .
Yes it is. Just keep to let you know, the stock mount is very limited for pinion sizes. If I remember correctly, you can only go up to 14 or 15t pinion. You can modify the mount to accept a larger pinion, but it requires grinding and slotting both parts of the mount and the chassis. The goal of the smaller spur gear was to get the car to accept larger pinions. The newly released Associated SR7 uses 45t spur gear that is the same metal design the mt8 48t spur. It is a direct fit for the mt8.
@KevMacG Not at the moment, and I highly doubt there will be an upgraded one coming. Very few companies are interested in making parts for it. That's why I came up with this smaller spur hack before they released the 45t spur. It's one of the only things we can do if we want anything larger than a 14-15t pinion. For reference, a 45t spur and 12t will be like installing a 16t pinion. 45t spur with a 15t pinion would be like installing an 18t. Basically, +3 to whatever pinion you throw at it.
No thanks. A simple driveshaft did the trick and didn't over heat my electronics cause the heat got trapped by a cover. Cool if you like getting your electronics smoking hot, but I don't.
