I love playing with paints, inks, dyes, etc. I enjoy incorporating mixed media into journals that I make. I sell some of my handmade items on etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/Eclecticjunkjournals I have digitals on Ko-fi: ko-fi.com/darcysmixedmedia
So Fun ! Darcy someone told me the other day that I remind them of the way you do and I thought it was such a compliment . I love that you can just pop things together. ~Patti
We love happy little squirrels named Darcy, yes we do ❣ I love what you did with the light fabric, it looked so cool and totally different after you put it on the gel plate❣👌👌👌
You are fun to watch. I love what you said about opinions. Sometimes I love what you make, and sometimes I don't. I enjoy the way your mind works, and the fact that I overthink things less now.
I love this! How the heck do i get involved in crazy fun like this?! Ooo-wanna do a 5 item swap sometime? Where we then make something from what the other sent…?
Love watching you have playtime Darcy! And I must say that I was shocked you were able to glue something to the glassine bag with just glue stick! Like what?! Why did my brain think we needed some magical glue to use glassine. Anyhoooo, you're off to an awesome start using the HowDoYouDo goodies. ❣
Darcey. when you make a journal, Do you start with a cover or do you start with pages? Do you have a set number of pages in each signature and a set number of signatures in each journal, then determine the covers or do you use what's handy when you are ready to put it all together? Do you make pages for the journal or do you make pages with whatever you feel like, then put colors in or do you make pages with colors, then pick and choose for specific journals? I'm not sure all that makes sense!! I guess I'm asking do you start with components (mass-make components), until you have a lot to pick and choose from, then start a journal and pick signature pages and ephemera from your mass-made stash? (Does that make more sense?) It's clear in my mind but it isn't coming out of my head right!! Do themes play a part when you are doing stuff? (nature, or animals or seasonal or anything specific) or do you just sit down and think "I want to do "this" today? I really do enjoy your channel. You remind me of a much younger self I wish I had been!! ❤❤❤❤
Yes Sorry, Susan, but I rarely do things the same way every time. It's however my brain takes me and squirrels are involved. Number of pages in a signature depends on number of signatures and weights of paper. I'll try to talk about all the things the next journal i make.
You just jumped right in!!!!! I don't recommend watching it because it's way too long but I did post an extra video showing how I thought through what to do. It's over an hour of just me trying to figure out how to get things to make sense. I love and admire the squirreling!!!!! Squirrel on my friend.
I have a journal that I needed these techniques and advice to work in! I want to make more journals but always think I need an overall theme. Not necessarily true!! I can do whatever I want and as long as I repeat it throughout, it's all good! And even if I don't use everything everywhere, it's mine, all mine!! 😄 I don't know why I keep thinking I have to please everyone. That's how I have always been. Now my kids are grown, and I'm old enough to do what pleases me and not worry about pleasing everyone! ( Unless I'm supposed to please them!! I love doing for others so those I'll need to please! 🤣Love ya, Darcy! ❤❤❤
This was great Darcy. I don’t care for the brown inking edge, but I do like inking them, I just use a purple, pink, blue, or grey, even black….colors I do like. I love how you doodle your pieces….I really enjoyed that little peek inside your doodle journal. I too have enjoyed this entire series, and look forward to the next parts.
I’m glad to have found your channel! Love your sketchbook, inspiring! I really didn’t like Tombows, the lines! So I gave them to a teacher friend who really likes them. I color with Copics. I’ve made some laminated boards to put behind my pages ‘cause of the bleeding. Thanks so much for sharing your process!❤💚💙💜
Watched both of Ceri's videos with this colour combo, which brought me to you! All roads lead to Darcy!! Great result (also, I need to have my volume set to an odd number, or i can't even begin to follow the plot!!! 😂😂) ❤❤
Love this journal, Darcy. Love your style, the grunge, the painty pages, the way you pull it all together with the stamps and stencils. And you work like me with painty inky fingers and stuff all over your work area. Love it! ❤
Thank you. Lots of good food for thought in this one. I'm trying to use my own gel prints and even they don't really all go together, so I've been a bit stumped on how to make things more cohesive.
I love what you make and want to do the same. I am just impatient and want it all to be done immediately and now. It doesn't work that way, of course. First, I don't have the energy to finish it all at once and I need to learn to enjoy the journey more and be less focused on the end result. I'm also afraid of messing it up, just like you said too. It helps me that you tell how much time you spent on it. It gives me a more realistic idea for myself. Thank you for sharing your wonderful process and journal. 💙🫂
Marvellous Stuff!!! 🎉🎉 Clever masking of the daisies gives a great effect, and using to edge pages - i like a lot cos I'm less keen on lace lined pages 😀. All these small touches to make the book cohesive really make a difference and are noticeable when you do the flip thru! Thank you Darcy ❤️🔥❤️🩹🖤
Hello just found your channel and love your papperd!! I am going to look in your other videos and see if you make them or if they are dofitals. So creative and beautiful. Thank you for sharing
Thank you ♥️ There's a whole playlist that has the creation of the papers in the first two videos: ru-vid.com/group/PLneVKsz6Q6oDRXGsszA-i4Il-m7Sq6xkF&si=x_km2vUM7tg6iIqo
@@DarcysMixedMedia ohh goodness just noticed all my typos. So sorry and glad you where able to translate lol. Great! Thank you so much. I enjoy watching so much
I’m glad I’m not the only one afraid of messing up. Thoroughly enjoying watching and learning the process..also while I practice doodle leaves, birds and mushrooms I watch and listen your tutorials over and over again.
I love seeing the progression from beginning to end! And it doesn't matter if it takes more than 1 video. I like mass-making and then narrowing down to what can be made from the backgrounds or how to cut masterboards for various ephemera and seeing the final product. It really helps me to just get started. Several videos, each with the next step and you get it done one step at a time. You're an awesome inspiration! ❤❤❤
I think you should do exactly what you like in a way that you like. It doesn’t matter if WE like it always, although it’s nice when everyone does. Stay true to you and ignore any negative comments. You are wonderful Darcy!
