Great to hear Bloody Fields getting a competition outing. Great coverage RNZPBA!! Really privileged to be able to listen in from the other side of the world last weekend. Great performance here too!
If some judges travel to NZ and then spend quite a lot of time in the company of just one of the bands in grade 1, then you kind of know whats coming on prize day.
Thanks for a great stream. Congratulations to the Canterbury Caledonian Pipe Band, and Congratulations also to all the team at RNZPBA, the camera & sound team and the commentators.
Love this! The world of pipe band championships has long been steeped in tradition, but kiwi bands have thrown a delightful wrench into the mix. Their unique style, a vibrant blend of traditional piping with contemporary influences, has infused the competition with a refreshing dose of eclecticism. This fusion of old and new has not only captivated audiences but also challenged the established musical norms, pushing the boundaries of what pipe band music can be. As a result, the championships have become a platform for artistic expression, showcasing the diverse musical landscape that New Zealand pipe bands have helped create. New Zealand's pipe band community isn't just about music; it's about forging lifelong bonds and friendships across the pond. The RSBPA should do more to recognise and support these overseas bands.
