Hey folks, a couple of simple tips that may help: 1. Don’t go too aggressive with the steam and scrape. That will damage your seasoning 2. That brass cleaner is a no no. You’re just scraping off your seasoning. 3. After cooking first scrape off large debris from your cooking, but do it gently. Next raise the temp until it starts to smoke. Add avocado or any oil and spread it evenly. Keep covering any dry spots that show up with a little oil. That’ll lay down more seasoning. Let it smoke for about five minutes. Next let it cool. Doesn’t have to be perfectly clean at this stage. 4. When you heat it up the next time just wipe clean with a paper towel after it warms up a little. Now it’s perfectly clean for your next meal. 5. From the look of it your griddle has very little seasoning which is the black surface. That seasoning will protect and make the surface nonstick. Your entire surface needs to be BLACK. 5. Buy a third part metal grill cover. Blackstone may actually sell it directly but Amazon definitely has them. 6. Use a waterproof cover over that obviously. Hope this helps.
Thanks! This video was from years ago when not much was out about them. Not sure why this video gets so much attention, but we have learned a lot since then! We should do an updated one. 🤣
@@CookieTux Totally understand. I think because they’re suddenly becoming popular. Yeah, put out an updated video with tips/tricks/ recipes. Would love to see what people do with their grills.
Hey bud, Blackstone rookie here. I had my first cook a week ago and noticed it got light rust with rain that we got. What cleaning method do you recommend for removing light rust.
@@pyro_1901 Just some fine sandpaper with water. No chemicals. After that just season as usual. cast iron is very forgiving and the light sanding will actually help the seasoning bond better. People have brought back 200 year old cast-iron skillets that were fully rusted back to life. Just make sure that after you use that griddle you season it so that the oil covering protects it from water. Also make sure you have, an actual metal grill cover over which you should have a soft waterproof covering of some sort. I bought one for my camp chef FTG-600 from Amazon for under $30 and it works great. I recommended cleaning up with paper towels, but actually the Cuisinart multipurpose griddle scraper CCB-999 was made for that. good luck.

Wonder why they changed the grease trap to the back of the griddle? Looks to me your grill needs to be seasoned. Saw one video. The You Tuber painted the underside of the griddle, and the sides with High heat paint. You paint the outside of grills with.
From what I saw, it looked like he used way too much oil for the reseasoning. Really thin coats are the key. But the brick looks cool. Might have to invest in one.
