More so because she is shown wearing the same dress in the previous scene at home, indicating it is just a regular day in their lives, when she decides to leave it all and rushes to meet her lover. I believe he wanted to depict the line "Ek nadi hoon main jo aaj milne saagar ko aayi yahan", that's why the blue for both leads. Mani Ratnam is a master of his craft and no one can beat him in the use of colours and symbols in cinema!

It's very underrated but Preity Zinta's blue suit from the sing song 'Naiyo Naiyo' from solider. I remember that dress was so popular especially the colour that my aunt bought the similar suit in the same colour.

I would love for you to do red next time, as the most memorable costume I can remember is Kareena Kapoor in Asoka (2001) in the iconic song San sanana when we are introduced to her, my favourite part is the when she's bathing at the river, the water hitting her just made the blouse beautifully dark red. Also she wore another red blouse with stunning jewels around it in the song Roshni se, where she only wears it for a split second, but she did pose for a set photography collection which is more detailed, I love it but for some reason I just feel like something is missing, maybe a shoulder strap or the blouse couldn't been tied in the back idk. Oo and also the saree in 'Bani Bani'. I think she also wore a red saree in the item song 'Beedi'.
Nandini's outfit in "Hum Dil Chuke Sanam" is HANDS DOWN the most beautiful and legendary blue bollywood outfit! And I absolutely love how the color of the outfit have the same color as her eyes ♡
U forgot Madhuri dixit's didi tera dewar deewana look. If other sky blue n shilpa shetty's purple lehanga is mentioned then why not madhuri dixit's HAHK look? Which has made huge impact on indian culture.

I wish you would do a video separate talking about Katrina, Kareena and Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rani mukherjee, Kajol as well. 😅 some of the most iconic outfits were worn by them. And Mumtaaz from the 60s. They were some people whose outfits are talked about and taken inspiration from even now. I think Deepika's outfit actually seemed inspired more from Mumtaaz's orange outfit. But I am obviously wrong. 😂
