This is my old neighborhood and south of the North Towne Mall and Cliffbreaker's is an apartment complex I lived in in the late 1990s to 2003 and back then the IMRL operated trains through there with old Soo Line highnosed Geeps with mixed freight sometimes an unit train of truck frames from Tower Automotive that was by Rockford Airport headed towards Janesville Wisconsin GM truck factory when it was up and running till GM shut it down.

I know that is the newly rebuilt 7th street grade crossing since I walk or ride the RMTD bus across it an lot and had to use the 8th street grade crossing while the 7th street crossing was being rebuilt. I live on Broadway.
Thanks, Poowg! I really miss that atmosphere a lot. Hearing cars being shuffled at the coal pier in the middle of the night. Geep / slug sets pulling west and throttling up to shove back below the bedroom window during the darkest hours. Fun stuff.

I visited my cousins and aunt in Mokeena 2 weeks ago and spent a few hours in Rochelle. Caught 2 BNSF and 1 UP. The Rockford action on this video is frosting on the cake. Too bad about the old GE, it would have looked good at IRM. Liked this one much, thanks man!
I know where that is at in Rockford since I walk the sidewalk past Mary's Place on Madison St. to connect to the bike trail almost all the time. Also sometimes I get by stopped the CN trains on the former IC Chicago to Iowa line that crosses 7th. St. .
