Totally agree that two deaths were kept hidden from the screen. I honestly didn’t think a lot of it until afterwards, but retrospectively it’s odd. I was entertained, so I’ll give it a thumbs up. Not for faint-hearted or weak-stomached viewers.
This was quite the mixed bag for me. I really liked the first two acts, I thought the mystery and thrills were very engaging. Unfortunately the 3rd act really went down hill for me. The reveal and “twist” just didn’t work for me. Great review
from what i've heard from other people, this movie connects heavily and is loved by trans people and just confuses cis people who don't seem to understand it or get the hype. i get how justice smith could be annoying, but him mumbling and the way he acts is super important to show how his character is
I really like this insight! I do agree that the mumbling is important to the character but it just hurts the movie (at least for me) because I can only tolerate and understand a deadpan mumble for so long
Interesting, I haven't seen much transformer media but I know there is a lot of lore to transformers. Would you say this is beginner friendly entry to the series?
When you said the movie was not, “Well executed,” you jolted me. That is exactly what I found so beautifully handled in the film. We can all have different opinions about a subject, but this movie, technically, was offered to the public perfectly designed and carried out.
Oh I see. I may not have made it clear in the video, but I thought on every technical aspect the movie was fantastic. What was not “well executed” (in my opinion) was the story beats as some of them were rushed and others took too long to happen.
I would like to know what I was wrong about, because I do not disagree with your comment about it being one of the most talked about movies of the year
Haven't seen it but the concept seems good. Too bad it sounds like they didn't execute it the best. Do you plan on seeing Am I Racist? The dailywire comedy movie. I heard it was good but there is some controversy around it since it's by Matt Walsh.
The concept was great, the direction was great, the performances were great, but the actual story structure wasn’t. I do not have plans on seeing Am I Racist? due to not really being interested in seeing it and no one in the group wanting to see it.
A lot have compared this film to Goodfellas. While there are similarities, Goodfellas felt sexier weightier and overall worth my time Bikeriders just wasn’t sexy or fun or anything substantial or worth my time at all. In its nearly 2 hour run time the audience is treated to dull joyless docu style drama told through the narrative framework of the female perspective. Not enough time was spent sharing who these guys were for me to care. The filmmakers were too busy pandering to the female gaze as they cobbled together a weightless story taking inspiration from a college kids scrapbook. Would it have killed the filmmakers to ask a real biker about his lived experience to draw inspiration from stories told firsthand? Instead we’re given a story told from the perspective of a woman who wishes to change her biker husband, from a story inspired by a college kids scrapbook from his perspective of a world he doesn’t truly understand. Did I get that right? 🙃🤦
I agree that the unconventional narrator approach with this film did not work. Really caused lots of gaps. I also agree I just didn’t care about any characters because the movie was also jumping through them. The scrapbook analogy is actually great and very accurate, so yeah I guess you did get it right.
Very good review ! I watched it yesterday And didn't know it was a straight to video, i JUST learned with your video. It explains why it was so bad!! 🤣 I thought the production work was pretty nice, especially when the budget was SO obvioulsy low. The camera work was however SO Bland. And it didn't take me 5min to think "wow this is very bad writing". And the NERVE to make the protagonist say "show don't tell" !!!! English isn't my first language so I always have difficulties to figure if the acting is good or bad, but passed 15 min i couldn't support the way the main character was talking. It infuriated me bc she's obviously poorly written. I wonder if they asker her to talk that way, bc i heard her specific vintage accent in other movies before but can't seem to place it. Does the way she was talking have a name ? I didn't catch all the characters stereotypes, And you're so right abt it. There was just a moment when I wanted to show Lu Wang character's make up to a friend and called her "the asian lady" bc I couldn't remember her character's name, And suddently I figured that... They didn't called her by her name that much in the movie AND She almost never talked at this point, So In thought it was another infurianting "silent and mysterious asian woman" character And. Well it fell into that. For me the most comedic scene was the Rabbit one... When the MC shooted "oh watch !" At the house like the house wan't there before I almost facepalmed, but when there was the RABBIT i lost it And when lu Wang appaered FROM NOWHERE And said "the rabbit are us !!!" Or smth i did go back to watch again Bc O thought I didn't catch a scene just before or smth. Also the bad guy monologue at the end was comedy gold. So bad, So long, i can't understand how it didn't stay in the drafts 😂
I mean it wasn’t the best thing, but was easily better than Kenobi and Ahsoka. Took more risks, I liked some and didn’t like others. I think there’s a good foundation for if a season 2 happens, since there won’t be any need for a long drawn out mystery plot that goes nowhere in the end.
See what happened was I was going to start watching them in chronological order but then had people who were like “Let’s go see Godzilla x Kong tomorrow”. I said yes and then decided it would be fun to watch them in reverse order.
