Located within the largest freshwater lakes in the world.

Here are Some of MY "productions" of different adventures and edits.

Besides action sports, at a young age I was introduced to fly fishing searching for wild trout living in the region known as "hills of the headwaters". I focus on diversity of fishing in Ontario, which offers year round sport opportunities for many different species, un-rivaled anywhere else in the world. More recent passions have branched further into backcountry camping venturing deep into areas hard to reach in search of un-pressured waters.

I see your 4runner is a limited. Did you delete the rear airbags to achieve a lift ?

Yeah needs to be done on limited models, air suspension in general for these usually crap out around after 15 years regardless

My guy you're a champ. Although I've never gone as far as Killarney, I've taken the Key river out to Georgian bay many times. You did this alone and with a non-motorized vessel, portaging a heavyass canoe. What a legend.

Thanks man, it depends the trail/road but I can generally use Google maps satellite imagery if downloaded before loosing service, then I still get GPS signal showing my location. For portage routes, you should always carry a waterproof or laminated map if it's a longer excursion

I can't disclose the exact location, but most Marina's/Boat Launches have paid parking available, take a few google searches and use the google maps, not too hard to figure out. Killarney to Parry Sound has loads of places.

Nice vid man, I’m not trying to be a smart a* but is there a reason you’re portaging the canoe backwards each time? I’m only asking because when I do it the way it’s meant for it kills my shoulders. I also have an 80lbs canoe so there’s that 😂

I read a book written by a young man called 'Yukon Summer' and decided I would someday paddle the river too. Back in 2006 I finally realized my goal and took my own solo canoe trip down the Yukon from Bennett L. to the Bering Sea. When I finished the canoe trip, I took a plane from Emmonak, a bus to Haines and the ferry to Skagway and did a backpacking trip on the Chilkoot trail back to Bennett L. where I started. Lots of wildlife, gold rush history and great primitive camping on the Yukon. I found 3 abandoned canoes during that trip - one up in a log jam at the outlet of Lake Labarge (lost from a rental company in Whitehorse), one full of mud up on the bank about 3 days down river of Dawson City (lost from a rental company at Dawson) and one up on the bank a couple days downriver from Galena (origins unknown).

@Thermopylae2007 Год назад
It's such an odd and interesting river, as it's hard to imagine such a sandy and sluggish river as full of salmon and trout. I suppose that any successful spawning happens in the more gravel-filled tributaries like the Pine and Boyne.
@smyproductions
@smyproductions Год назад
Agreed I had the same thoughts when I first started fishing the river. The middle section is known as staging waters, very little spawning occurs based on my understanding. Both the pine and main hockley valley branch have extensive gravels areas that boast majority of the reproduction

Great video pal - first I have seen from you. Drop me a line if you are every up that way again. I do a lot of fly fishing in that area. I have a trailer on the Rocky Saugeen River and have two Outcast Commander drift boats. Drop me a line if you are ever back in the area. Took a 24" resident rainbow on a dry last summer - it was holding in 2' of water and I didn't see it until it moved on my fly - thought I was seeing things. There are a few sections of the Rocky downstream from Hwy 6 that can only be accessed by water - I don't think a canoe would make it or at minimum a lot of wading. Lot of private property but I get access at the trailer park. There are a few areas that are like nothing I have every seen east of the Rockys. There are big springs that come in - the waater is cold and crystal clear - the huge fish move into these areas when it warms up in July Aug. It's a lot of sight fishing - you'll think I'm lying when I say I have seen several 10lbs resident browns and schools of Brookies pushing 4 to 5lbs. Very hard to catch - these are big smart fish, the water is not huge and gin clear. I would be happy to show you around - pretty much up there every weekend. You seem like a catch and release guy and are exploring water the way I like to. 95% of my fishing is on the fly - 5wt with 6' med sink leader to 8lbs mono and then my 3 or 4wt set up for dries. Never a bad idea to have a spin rod with a #2 to 4 mepps or a spoon. The hatches in June - specifically the Hendrickson may fly hatch can be pretty spectacular - if you hit it right it is possible to catch some of these monsters on the surface.
@smyproductions
@smyproductions Год назад
Cool stuff man, sounds like you have it dialed in. The rocky is really nice although mostly private or hard access, not easy work usually for those who may think about hitting it up. Getting some of these on the dry would be intense big time, that water is crystal clear and almost drinkable. I'm not far away and commonly hang around that area so I'll be around. Cheers!

Nice man. I did this stretch dozens of times in my younger years. Probably the best brown trout water that exists in Ontario. Still make a point of doing it whenever I make it back down that way. Great videos, keep rockin it!
@smyproductions
@smyproductions Год назад
Hey thanks! Agreed I prefer bigger water and it's the largest river in the area with resident populations. Would like to see it become catch and release, but many of the private stretches of many cold tribs help protect populations.
