It’s important for people to understand that most Mennonite groups do not feel like they are the One True Church. Most Mennonite groups do teach the Gospel. While they might have some blind spots in the legalism department, many, many of them are true believers. This is your experience, and I’m sorry for you, I really am. But it isn’t what all Mennonites are, across the board.
I have no respect for any of these homeless.Most of them get most money more money than most people get in a month.They choose to be out there.They've in my neighborhood a lot over the last few years because we had a temporary hope mission over here at the race track.They leave garbage everywhere.They don't respect themselves so how do we expect to respect them

You are an inspiration! I left the Amish community, and my reason for leaving was because I seeked God's guidance, and He showed me Biblical truth. Praise Jesus! I would love to know more about the mennonite side of the Anabaptist and how close the doctrines or Ordnung is to the Amish.
Thank you for sharing a piece of your story. Honestly there are so many different kinds of Mennonites with very different levels of conservatism. It really just looks like people's desire to create a safe place, a place that to them is perfect and flawless, but in the process they cut off many other followers of Jesus.

The reasons the programs are not working is because our government makes a fortune off of corruptions. Why is there not enough women's shelters???? Why are there not enough women's support groups in Edmonton. Why are we not supporting more so women and children are not forced to separate and be forced to the streets or their old lives . Then talk about the veterans. Just look up what the governments supplied during WW2 The three things the government supplied as a stress release during world war 2 is Booze Cigarettes And women ...... Tell me the governments promotions then never created a mass devastating factor for many families who suffer from the history of the damages war caused many families, ethics even.... In reality social workers have no clue how to really help individuals into programs that actually work for people that help the succeed. The mental health crisis here in Alberta let alone Edmonton is awful . Watch the security at the U of A throwing people onto the sidewalks who clearly need mental health and serious addictions help . Yet having to ask my own therapist how am I to have success seeing how they truly treat people who seriously need the interventions of mental health/ addictions help . We need more supportive groups that actually work for people not fail them . Officers need better training on how to deal with mental health crisis. I had officers say that people like me are cheaper in the ditches and then we wonder why there is a problem in society. I suffer from past suicidal tendencies mental health and past abuse . A daughter on life support, lost a son due to medical negligence. Lived through cancer and brain bleed . Lost our home , it took 8 months for me to get into a home a women's shelter was not easy to get into to . Even now it's scary because the obstacles our governments make for people to have stability in their success.

I was on the streets in Edmonton 15yrs ago,I was there for 3 yrs. My reserve kicked me out,so i had no where to go. But i got myself out of that way of life. I was a drug and alcohol abuse. I was shooting up 1800,a day. I found Jesus and quit. Im still sober,and im still with Jesus

Addictions keep them on the street , as it does for alot of others ,, being on thr dtrrt allows homeless addictd to use whastever there using , where as in the shelter they cant , I feel compasion for them , other than the made up victim stories they were telling and then the later stories would contradict the previous story , .
How do we minister to em then? Just lead by example and cross paths here and there? Great video btw. I have alot of questions and appreciate this kind of content although nothing replaces the bible.
I appreciate your questions and hope I can provide a little bit of clarity. There are many ways to minister to people without fellowshipping with them. Examples: volunteering at charities, posting on social media, inviting unbelievers into Christian circles. For example, my church has many events that are open to the public. Sometimes these events don't even involve Christian teaching, but are simply there to expose unbelievers to a group of believers who are open about their faith and likely to invite a newcomer to church. The important thing is that your inner circle and the people you spend the most time with and influence you the most are believers. My church also has a daycare and coffee shop that are set to operate throughout the week to introduce the broader community to the church community in a variety of ways. We are also opening a warehouse of supplies for low-income persons as well as a second campus at the university of Alberta with various outreach programs for students.
I came from the church of christ, extremely conservative and very superstitious, suits are mandatory, "come as you are" is completely ignored, my father would beat us mercilessly, because he would claim we brought satan into his house, i am terrified of ever exposing my children if i have any to this type of monolithic behavior,i am on my owm spiritual journey exploring the world and spiritually through my own eyes instead of a eyes of a man who claimed he knew god, Christianity was important in me understanding my place but my purpose is always changing just like the ocean.
There is lots of work in the summer and winter. They can get a job anywhere they want. It's called applying everywhere in edmonton. If you try harder to get out of this kind of life. You will do it. You need to keep positive mindset. Always dress up and look the best when you are applying. When they ask for address. Give a family remembers address or a cell number. There are tons of people who are standing by the lights all the time, holding a sign help us. We can help some people out that's fine. But you guys need to help yourself by trying to look for a job too. Don't complain if you get a job at a fast food restaurants or anything. It's a job and it will help you to make money. Save that money then you can have a roof over your head & food all the time too. Before winter comes, I want too cook some food and hand them out. I'm not doing it for money or anything. It's that I like helping another's. I will help out how much I can. I understand how life is & understand how it feels when you don't have anything in your life. I'm not trying to be rude or mean. I know how life is because I been through that road and seen how family's don't want to help you too. It's fine. There is always God watching us from the top. 1 day the person who didn't help you out in life will need help. God will show them what they did and God will punish them 🙏. Life is short so we all gotta make something out of it. Stay safe and I will do whatever I can to help out. 🙏 amen!
First. Alberta is the ONLY province in Canada that pays for disability caused by alchohol and drug use, including addiction, AND no one has a program like Aish, Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped, the golden ticket. Edmonton has always been a transient city. Every summer, people flock from everywhere to "cowboy" it, living on the street and doing lots of drugs and booze. The real homeless stay the winter. Lots of help and support, with housing programs, rent and power deposits, furniture, food etc. We mandate to help the drug addicts, in nice condos, while the seniors and disabbled are shit out of luck. Don't listen to these drug addict prostitutes. They got a paradise here. We perpetuate the problem with all the missions feeding them 8 times a day, free change of clothes. Private charaties give out more food, hygiene, clothes. Trust me, they WANT to be homeless.

Im a single mom worked three jobs went to college lost my partner my son got a cavity and i could not help getting his tooth pulled they let it get so bad my son os in so much pain and no help at all he jad to get a job with coverage to get it pulled the tooth was bad at 16 he is now 18 and just now on the 29th when his coverage kicks in he will have it removed sad place we live in
This is very sad sad that the homeless are getting 1700.00 a month meds and all they dental covered some even have places but crying that they are homeless please this is sad how about the working class people who get sick and cant get help cant get meds covered or dental who have paid into the unemployment there entire life been off sick 8 months now but cant get a stitch of bloody help because i made to much last year you people get more than people on unemployment insurance and people on EI dont get med coverage or dental coverage im sorry im bitter but after hearing this im more sick
@katietoews5562 and yes I agree. Thease people get help and alot of it and there is no reason anyone has to sleep outside low rental there are a dime a dozen DD gets coverd so this yes frustrates me it doesn't cost alot of money to rent a roon
Good morning born and breed on those streets 7yrs old I am 47 yrs old 5 bad kids at home that we rent and dad has not stopped working for them since there oldest brother blessed my life he's 21 and works beside me saving numerous communities in alberta and surrounding provinces. Step 1 take control of your addiction step 2 find out what you are fighting for step 3 never give up never surrender step 4 life ain't easy you get stronger step 5 everything you want is not gonna happen that second so live life like water off a ducks back step 6 bathe enjoy your minute don't rush and see what that does for you step 7 repeat steps 1 thru 7 daily weekly monthly yearly and I hope I see empty streets once again. After watching this I have to say most folks blame homeless on mental illness, and addition to drugs, after hearing this young lady say I am homeless live in a tent have six kids who I don't care for. I would have to argue education is lacking from a lot of these people.
Lack of education is absolutely part of the problem. If you've been homeless since you were 13, lack of education is bound to be a problem in your life.
I’m from Ontario and from what I understand is you absolutely need to have an address for any government assistant of any kind. I don’t understand how it works in Alberta,but if your getting health benefits $1700 a month in government assistance and the Canadian food banks,technically you should be more than able to save for a better life, no? Please help an ignorant person understand. Thank you.
It is difficult but possible to survive on $1700 a month. It would take skills and health such as critical thinking skills, mental stability, budgeting skills, education, emotional support, and more that someone on the streets from 13-years-old living off of drugs and trauma responses likely doesn't have.
Please don't assume in Edmonton 1700 is not enough for safe housing! Also One Of These Women is Indigenous and has been effected by Legacy of Residential School! Addiction is A Illness
I'm not trying to poke fingers at the situation. But I've worked all western Canada in the oilfields. Met many natives weather working or just being in their communities. But gas and snacks talk with them. And the problem is usually the chief and his administration they do very well. Usually the nicer homes and rides. They say that it's easier to keep them on alcohol and drugs. They just don't complain.
You are naive to be out hee praying for people and thinking homeless is such a basic issue. They have services available paid by tax dollars and prefer to do what they please because it doesnt fit what they want. When your homeless and struggling you need to take that help and accept the terms people put out. These people were failed by their parents and they failed themselves and then they also failed the next generation. 6 kids??? Are you kidding me if youve been suffering and are struggling why as a person would you bring someone in to go through the same. Homeless cannot be fixed by anyone other than thw person who is homeless.
I am naïve in many ways, but I would rather tell someone straight to their face what they need to learn or change than talk shit about homeless people in the comments of a RU-vid video. If you care about people, talk to them. If you don't care, keep your opinions to yourself.

Looking into natural makeup. Some brands use bad chemicals. There is DIY makeup Do It Yourself is the meaning. Also for clothing stay away from polyester it’s plastic and most of that stuff comes from communist china. Safe clothing is cotton, hemp and bamboo and animal fury.
Landlord here. Small apartment building. Social workers from the Mustard Seed foundation and Bissell reached out to me for housing. NEVER AGAIN! It took me two additional months to evict these two different tenants. They broke every rule on the lease. The behaviour was intolerable for the other tenants. Court order, Bailiff, EPS. Just over THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of damage between the two suites. And a mess that was waist high throughout the suites. Drug paraphernalia and damage is everywhere. Three months later and the damage to the suites and the building still isn’t corrected. The street is the best place for them.
This isn't very well thought out reply.. I get it that you had a bad experience but to say the streets is where they belong is cold and heartless, these are still human beings!!! 8% of addics still get clean for life and another 6% will struggle for possibly years before getting permanently clean.... You should be ashamed 😢 I'm sure your insurance covered the damage..

That must have been extremely frustrating. I think it would be best to ensure previously homeless tenants are either in rehab or have finished rehab prior to renting.
@@Zanthanee 1000 percent understand where you’re coming from. I used to work at Bissell a few years back and I was super naive about what happened when homeless people were housed. I started out in the housing section and then moved into the follow up section of Bissell. It’s insane the things that happened when these people are left to their own devices. I’ll never touch a housing first agency again and totally understand why property managers refuse to deal with any of the housing agencies.
