John is right about the sickening worship of bands.even churches are without walls these days.its better that way.the church has to be LOVINGLY helpful,with the POWER of the holy spirit to heal bad memories and physical illnesses,and bring reconciliation to enemies.christ is positive.
What’s tragic is that Levene had set them up to do the soundtrack for “Wolfen” and due to John’s mentioning of it the director ended up pulling the plug. Poor Levene having to putting up with Lydon. Guy is / was an arrogant clown
As a die-hard punk in the mid to late 70s, I idolized the Pistols, and Never Mind the Bollocks is still an awesome album. But even then it was clear that Lydon was a bit of a dick. His rebellious attitude always seemed to be fuelled by a deep-seated sense of alienation from a society he felt he could never truly belong to, and he always seemed to have little to offer beyond resorting to indiscriminate criticism of anything that crossed his path, latching onto the mantra "anger is an energy" for a few years while scowling into the camera like a demented Bob Monkhouse. He loved Pink Floyd, but felt himself socially and culturally unworthy, and so instead bought the “I hate Pink Floyd” t-shirt because it was an easier path to walk. I pretty much lost interest in him when he stormed off the set of Juke Box Jury in 1979. The tv company knew he would do it, John knew he’d do it, and the audience knew he’d do it. It was expected of him - an unspoken contractual agreement. The producer wheeled him on, and John duly obliged by walking off in a spikey-haired huff. As I remember it, by ’79 he’d already become an anachronism - the figurehead of a bygone era still trying to find his place in a world that had largely moved on. I was never that surprised when he lurched politically to the right, abandoned his working-class roots, donned the tweed suit of an English country squire, and starred in an advertisement for Country Life butter on British tv. He'd become the new Tommy Steele. If a Make England Great Again movement is ever given birth to, you can be sure John will be its figurehead. A national treasure to be sure, but still a bit of a dick.

John was so fucking annoying. If he had anger issues about not selling records, etc, he had only himself to blame. He had anger issues. Yes Mainstream rock was vile but he had a way to do something about out it and he didn't because he became part of the mainstream. Isn't that just funny?
It was worth seeing Public Image not because they played good music, because they didn't! But Johnny was up there doing his normal epileptic movement and stares. He is right when he says what they play is not music. Johnny could have followed in the way of Paul Cook and Steve Jones and made a lot of money. But he is the anti-hero!
Public Image was a scam from the beginning! Especially when they came to the US. They knew that kids in the US would come to see them just because it had Johnny Rotten singing. They were just looking for more cash from chaos. I went to one of their shows, it was good to see Johnny singing again but they sucked. Paul Cook and Steve Jones, the drummer and guitar player from the Sex Pistols formed the band The Professionals and toward America, I saw them also and they were really good and tight. Public Image was made up to be a scam just to get money off of people, and it worked Johnny got his way.
John Lydon is still an overrated "artist" because he was "outrageous" for that time. A spoiled turd that had no real talent, riding on anti-social behavior when it was taboo. 😂😂😂😂
This is 43 years ago. Wow. These performers/musicians are iconic. As a child, I remember the sex pistols coming to atl in 78. Youd of thunk satan HIMself had come to earth. Idiots marching around in front of the red room with their end of the world signs.
