There is a cure for boredom. It's found in progression.
August 28, 2017. As I sat at my desk in an office cubicle staring at a computer screen, two days after my 35th birthday, I realized I'd been wasting my youth. From that day forward, I decided to spend every minute possible doing the things I'm most passionate about. I decided to film & share them with you. Snowboarding, skateboarding, & getting the heart rate up outdoors are my passions. In 2018 I left my old life behind. I quit my corporate job & moved from the flat hills of Maryland to the mountains of Utah with my amazing wife to ride the "greatest snow on earth", filming the whole life-changing journey for YOU.
I strongly believe that YOU are never too old, too young, or too busy to pursue the things you're passionate about. You don't have to be the best at what you do, just do YOUR BEST at what you love.
Boredom dies when we chase progression. So... What are you chasing?
Thanks for this tip Dan! I didn’t think I’d get that off my bucket list last year but thanks to this I went a few times. Had some trouble later on at the back door further over at BRT but I think I stayed humble there too. God Bless SolBrt! That was amazing for a T1. Ha😅 How many counts of SICK RIDING on YOU in THIS ONE?! That grace rivals Dr.MLK.
Thanks! I think they are superior just in their build quality alone. And I don’t like the heel stirrups on the clew that stay on your boot. It’s clunky IMO.
Hey Dan, I've been a fan of your youtube channel for a while now. Ironically, I briefly lived in the DC area from 2013-2017 and used to frequent Liberty, Roundtop, and whitetail mountains. Anyway, I've grown up snowboarding and I'd say I'm an advanced intermediate in terms of skill. I've always stayed on the east coast, but I've been itching to get out west for the experience. Two of my siblings and I are looking into a ski/snowboard trip to Utah in February. I've been looking into Powder mountain and park city a bit. My brother is a true intermediate snowboarder and my sister is a decent skier but still working on her confidence on the mountain. We are potentially going to see the Philadelphia Flyers play Utah in Salt Lake City on February 4th, so we are looking for a resort that would be somewhat close or easy to get to and from SLC. Any reccomendations on a specific resort or any tips for our first time discovering some western US pow?
I work at Bear Claw Cabin (at the top of Reds Summit), we are only open 4 hours each day (usually 11-3). Come visit. It’s a dope place to catch your breath and eat nachos.
Ha this just popped up in my shorts🤪 Hope all is good with you and the fam!! Any good summer vids coming? Would love to see of my future home state lol. That vide on top of that canyon was wild, anyway best wishes bro!!
@@BoredProgression It’s all good, been seeing all the 1st snows popping up on my IG feed. Getting excited for the flow of snowboard videos from everyone soon haha.
In cases of super low light overcast days while snowboarding (like powder dumps), do you ever recommend using in a gimbal (if so which one)? Not too familiar with cameras but I know that the in camera stabilization/image can take a good hit in low light scenarios.
I was pretty good in my youth. I quit fir about 5 years and started again just before I turned 40. It was crazy. I didn't have rhe pop, but I understood the physics SO much better. At 40 I learned nollies, noliie heal and kicks in a day. I tried fir almost 10 years to nollie before I quit and I just didn't get it. There us something about stepping away for a while and coming back. Everything just seems a little easier (Except your pop height. That is VERY hard to get back )
Great video. I am trying to decide between GoPro 12 and Osmo 4. I am a skier. Are the mounts interchangeable on both? GoPro seems to have more mount selection.
They are both amazing but very different. Bird has steeper, more challenging terrain but more aggressive, less chill vibes. Brighton has a skatepark vibe that’s very unique with some amazing terrain but maybe less intimidating. I’m gonna drop the full bird review this November.
Awesome video! And that Bobsled run...Austin you were like a James Bond villian on his tail! That is the type of precision that I aspire to execute in the trees. Thanks Bored Progression for keeping the love and joy of snowboarding simple and authentic.
This is a fair assessment! I’ve lived in cedar for 8 years and Brian head has become my home resort. It’s not the biggest or the best but everyone is always pretty awesome there and I love getting a season pass and not having to sell a kidney to buy it. Love my resort and glad you got to experience it, Hope to get you back soon!🤙🏼
Brighton has better variety, cliffs, trees all around every corner of the resort vs the flat sections of PowMow and though it gets tracked out faster, the snow is lighter & stays fluffier at Brighton’s higher elevation. PowMow stays untracked longer but has less side hits, cliffs etc., and the many east facing slopes get a nasty melt/freeze cycle that Brighton doesn’t. I think that evens the category pretty well.
I worked full time in Brian head for 3 seasons. The old timers had a saying “ski the dirt with Burt” as one of the founders of the resort opened early back in the day too, sometimes with dirt still on the runs.
Returned my OA4, without a fair bit of post processing the compression algorithm on the OA3/4 results in almost all loss of definition in the snow, looks like a solid white mass compared to GoPro. Same seems to office for road surface texture and grass. Quite obviously one viewed on a monitor in full resolution. Ashame as I’m sure the detail is captured by the OAs but just lost in processing. For me this was not acceptable. Now back with GoPro (choose 11 over 12 for the GPS overlays)
