So i will chase seriel numbers, I've collected them after box hits with sigs or numbered cards and it has worked much better than going on and just picking one lol
The screwdriver is horrible advice, just snap it in half once you crack the top off with pliers. I tried using a screwdriver and it got stuck in the plastic and shot out into the card destroying it.
This is, by far, the most useful content ever created on RU-vid. I've just gotten back into the hobby after over 30 years away from it. This advice was so on point and it makes so much sense. THANK YOU for sharing.
Dude I’m right there I did my first brake this week and fell in love! But I came up empty handed in all of them. But Trying to really build my pc and this video is what I needed to see
I relate to you a lot man. I’m married, have a son and another on the way. Just never forget that you ARE a good father & Husband. Also it’s never wrong to have time to yourself and make videos. Hope you’re doing well man and have enjoyed your videos for a long time.
I’m brand new to collecting and I’ve already noticed the cards are not worth the price in boxes. I’m gonna have to just buy singles, it’s the only way I’ll get what I want. Now I have a bunch of worthless base cards. I guess I’ll hand them out with the candy on Halloween.
Is “Scratch X” also supposed to be applied to the back of a card as well? For example a 1997 nba chrome card, can that be applied to some of the scratches that are on the back of that card?
Cleanest break I've seen on here easily. Gonna break a PSA for the first time ever and it's a Slafkovsky Rookie auto worth $550+ Hope it goes this good 😂
Just looking to get back into the hobby after 20 odd years it did not take me long to realise this after a week of research, the cost of chrome boxes plus the amount of variations and versions of cards, you are clearly better off just buying the cards you want already graded. As someone interested in F1 though it is even daunting just buying the graded cards, due to the different variations and even the insane costs of some which do not even have any age yet. Some of the F1 2020 stuff is just insane but I imagine this is more of an exception due to it being new and the increased popularity.
Hey... you have some great points here..!!! Very good. I thank you for this and putting things in perspective for me. lol. Over the years I have spent outrageous money on cards that are worth pennies on the dollar.
I think that you’ll buy anything graded! And then you feel like your collection is going up, with graded cards. Your thinking is wrapped around graded. I stay away from graded cards, because collectors overvalue graded cards. The difference between a PSA 10 and a PSA 5 is minimal. I should start a grading company and make millions off guys like you.
I wish I had the resolve to buy even just some blasters or mega boxes and hold onto them for a few years…that is the best way to turn a profit if you can keep yourself from ripping them lol. Can you imagine having some unopened Prizm boxes from Mahomes rookie year? Those blasters are prob selling for $400 now.
You actually gave good advice he just got sent down to minors might be a good time to buy I do football but bought one of his cards got a psa 10 sold it when he got called up made profit
This was such a good video to watch. As I’m newer to the hobby I tried out box breaking and buying a few singles. But this video really solidified that I should put more of my time and money into more singles and buying raw/grade over boxes.
Good to see you put out another video. Being a good dad and husband is the top priority. Hopefully you get a little time for yourself here and there. 💪
I sincerely understand the financial restrictions with a young family but I also very much miss your weekly minor league recaps. Good luck in all your endeavors!
Nice cards. Miss the days when you did the weekly minor league recaps. Seems ro me like Carson Williams needs a trade somewhere else because the Rays make their prospects wait too long to reach the majors and get consistent playing time. That and guys are blocking him at that position. Thoughts?
I think Carson is in a good spot now, since wander happened. If wander was still playing I would completely agree. I expect Carson to make his debut this year
Nothing wrong with making a little extra money. Great to see a new video! I have a new project trying to get autos of every Dback who played for the Sodpoodles.
Man. I wish you still made consistent card content. You were one of the best. I get it. You don’t owe us anything and life comes first. Hope you are doing well Ryan
I just purchased a Josue De Paula (Dodgers) Bowman chrome 1st Sapphire auto also in blue ink I mainly wanted it for that beautiful color match but I wasnt sure if the regular chrome auto was the way to go
I just bought a Anthony volpe rookie topps black chrome gold mini diamond psa 9 for a hundred dollars to me thats a steal Because how many psa 9s is out there in population
Have you seen the behind the scenes at psa? They put all kinds of prints on your cards and don’t use gloves. Won’t be grading my cards with psa anymore. They don’t know how to handle a card or grade them.
not sure I would say they "ruined" your card...they may have put fingerprints on it, but that is hardly ruining it...sucks that you are out the $19, but at least you can send it back in
Another reason I never grade anymore. Oh that and the fact that PSA charged me $75 for a card they didn't even grade. Deemed it mini size when the card was pack pulled by me. People have been duped into thinking raw cards are bad and only a magical mystery grader might give us an arbitrary inconsistent grading scale. Most of the time you can't even tell the difference between a 9 and a 10. I've seen severely OC cards get 10s. PSA basically prints money because of the blind trust the collectors have given them. Then they're allowed to buy SGC and eliminate their main competition. Monopoly just like Fanatics. We need more companies and competition in the hobby, not less. Sorry about your damaged card. I'm not surprising one bit however.
Agree Chris! I have had a card returned without being graded either… PSA NEEDS to at least tell us why they are grading a card a particular grade if they refuse to go to subgrades. Eventually I hope they get passed by these newer companies doing so. Transparency is key with this stuff
