Braši puiši, daiļas mečas, Grieza danci sev un mums par prieku. Nekas nav skaistāks par jaunatni, kura dejo un dzied savas tautas dziesmas!!! Paldies, Arti, tev un mūzikas grupai „Folkvakars" .

There are no Slavs here. The Latgalian language is a language of the Baltic group. Latvian, Lithuanian and Prussian. Latvians are genetically closest to Livs (Finno-Ugrian group).
There is a relationship with the Slavs. The Balto-Slavic language group proves this. Some Latvians have a prejudice against the Slavs unfortunately and get upset when the relationship is made. There are many similarities between Latvian and Russian words. For example the word for snow in Latvians is sniegs, in Russian “snig”, fire in Latvian is “uguns” in Russian is “ogoni”, lake in Latvia is “ezers”, in Russian is “ozoro”, arm in Latvian is “roka” in Russian is “ruk”,etc. These are obviously not loan words.
