I keep swallowing my sound any help? Its like my singing is inverted sometimes from shyness any idea how to push the air outward as opposed to having this tension in the jaw and inward singing?😊

Thanks for sharing your passion of singing. I have been playing guitar for over 25 years and I have always felt shy about singing. Which you make me realize that I was trying to copycat the artist. You’re a gem! I didn’t know that voice have there own signature!
Thanks for a practical tip on progressive breath support singing exercises "Ah" count of 1 to 16 and try to maintain consistency in your vocal control releases and support from your diaphragm.
@@Victoria-Victorious Yes, beyond 16 beats and more breath support techniques needed. Maybe another video for those interested to know more. Thanks for your practical explanation in all your videos which I find useful learning in any voice lessons.
This is really helpful! I've been singing "professionally" my adult life, mostly in rock bands and now in a duo in assisted living type places. My pitch has generally been decent, but recently on recordings, I've been flat in places. (never sharp). I do have some hearing loss from the rock and roll, but I easily hear the flatness upon listening to recordings of myself. I think the reasons you listed on this video might just be what's going on. I've usually been very heavy in my mid to low range from the rock & roll singing, so I really look forward to your other videos so my husband and I can improve our duo and our voices. Thanks for your work in posting these helpful videos!
I would focus on overall good technique during the gig. This starts in your regular practice. You could incorporate straw phonation exercises during breaks at the gig.
NO WAY! I've been watching your videos for so long now and I just find out now that you've been to Manila?? LITERALLY KUNG SAN AKO NAKATIRA?? 😭😭😭 This just makes me so happy you have no idea 🥹‼️
I have been a guest instructor in Manila for 10 years! I’ll be back in January and will post a note here on RU-vid. If you want to receive notices, you can subscribe to my email list (see link in video description box below) or follow me on FB! 😃
Have you heard yourself to be sure you have no vibrato? I never thought I had any vibrato as a young woman. Now that I'm back to singing, it's all over the place. I want to be able to control it completely.
I found my true voice but there's a certain beauty of being able to mix and match songs and singers. There are so many songs that sound better in other artists voice and hence why we tend to select our favourite cover versions of a song and sing to it. It's not that I don't like my true voice but why just stop there why not make it more flexible?
This video is NOT about being stuck with 1 sound, ignoring your favorite artists or emulating their vocal colors and textures in a song. It is about knowing what YOUR own balanced voice is. The more you know about your own voice, the more choices you can have in a healthy way. If you have watched my performance videos or those of my students, you will see that I (they) sing in many different styles and vocal choices. Some singers get stuck copying and never find their own unique voice, what makes them special.
I have a singing voice that feels so natural and effortless but it doesn't sound like the artist whose songs I am singing so it feels like I can't sing because I can't sing like how they are singing their songs. So I started making up songs for fun for my children and the only way to sing these songs is with my own voice. And I realized that I actually can sing but it doesn't sound like other female artists with their really feminine long high pitch tones. I have a much deeper singing voice and I guess that is okay.

Victoria, I used to be a very good pro singer but a combination of lack of use and a cervical spine injury have left my middle voice extremely weak. It keeps collapsing with a sort of splitting noise. Any ideas please?
this is good for singing opera in my eyes or very very soft songs it can be applied to multiple genres pop country blues reggae swing motown etc just not rock or heavy metal styles or rap i sing metal thats how i know i use my head voice a lot more than my chest voice and i rarely will need to use falsetto but i am what they call a contralto so my range is very wide if you want a idea on what a contralto is search up brendon urie he is a contralto
