I just sold a Catalina 25 in Bitter End and purchased a Catalina 30 MkI in Scenic Bay. I'm pretty green, what chart do you use and where do you get your radar info? Great videos!
Good morning Kokua, my name is Mauricio Tovar from Bogotá Colombia, years ago met Kokua (Nick name) trough a great friend of mine Jim Lowell who passed away years ago it was in San Diego, did you own a Morgan 36? We did some sailing to Coronado islands Ana Catalina island. Wonder if you're same Kakua
Thanks for sharing your adventure! Your planned route map at the beginning was helpful, and gave some sense of the lay of the 'land'. What chart are you using to navigate (3:50)?
I really enjoyed your videos You're the reason I'm looking for a sailboat. If you ever want to teach someone how to sail, let me know. I'm live right down the street from ponderay in athol. Hope to see you out there someday. CHEERS
Hows the anchoring in Garfield? We have never tried that! ....Also those black hawks buzzed the marina while we were putting sails on a boat...wild!! Thanks for sharing man!
Hello Arlon, Buttonhook has been mine and the fiancès favorite place to explore during our first season sailing after buying a sailboat. We are in McDonald's marina just across the bay on C dock, I can see our mast when you motor out of the bitter end. What a gorgeous lake we get the chance to sail on! It's Jan 20 24 and we just went down yesterday to see if she was still floating and brush the snow off, all was well. Hope to see you on the water this spring.
@blueraven21 orange crush II its the boat in my profile pic. A fellow named John Kyer bought it from kent washington new and had it shipped over. His legal name was Leonard Kyer. He had health issues and sold it in 1986 to the man I bought it from, Dwight Potts and his wife Lila. I bought the boat last year in March 2023. We sailed learned to sail on this boat. We sailed to Maiden rock, and Button hook quite a bit. The boat had sat for 2 years so we had some bugs to work out of the fuel system along the way. It was a wonderful learning experience. Arlon, I offer our condolences to you as we've seen the beautiful memorial you made for your mother. I've followed your channel on you tube as I enjoy your art and especially your sailing videos. Take care, we'll see you out there soon.
Hi love the videos. I don't have a boat but love the Catalina. Maybe in a future. still learning the lines as they say. would love to see you putting out the mass and that whole process
It was already on the boat when I got it, but I sure do appreciate it. It helps with getting around the cockpit when the boat is heeled over, and I find that I grab it every time I board the boat.
Really enjoyed sailing with you today. I’m in Meridian and sail with SISA, Southern Idaho Sailing Association. I am planning on getting a C30 in October with a slip in Long Beach Ca. Will spend the winters between Idaho and SoCal. Sure glad I found your channel. Might drop in sometime for a chat about the 30 and maybe a sail? Thanks.
Me encanta este barco, muyconfortable y ligero para la navegacion en aspectos constructivos, mi consulta seria que si se puede navegar por el globo con esta embarcacion en planes familia, y para cuantas personas esta autorizado... gracias por el video.
The Catalina 30 is a coastal cruiser, not really designed for open ocean sailing. I did sail one offshore San Diego last spring, but in light wind and wave conditions. Boat will accommodate sleeping for 7. 🙂
Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the video. This is the first I seen of Lake Pend Oreille. Totally new to me. It looks like a beautiful water recreational area with some superb scenery. Thanks again for sharing and enlightening us to your sailing area
