This is honestly amazing. Double Dash’s Rainbow Road is my personal favourite, so to see it replicated so well is a sight to behold. Makes me wish it had been in Mario Kart 8.
Looks great! I think the flaws are - green is too dominant in the main road shader. Can't you make your own shader? - the main road looks too much like Wii rainbow road. In fact it looks like Wii rainbow road with a modified version of the 3DS RR shader. - the camera at 0:54 is really bad.
It is literally wiibow that’s kind of obvious to most of us. Making a custom texture is extremely finicky and many custom tracks with one looked really out of place or unpolished in terms of the polygons.
The best mod ever and this shows you why Miyamoto should have use this as a retro track for either this game or DS if he doesn’t screw up missed opportunities and just learn to do better in retro tracks
This rendition of GCN Rainbow Road looks amazing. I have always loved the floating items over GCN Mushroom City. If I were to remake this track, I would have turned those floating items into hot air balloons with Toads and Yoshis inside of them. I even loved how you included the classic Mario Kart logo on the banner and amplified the brightness of the color palette.
Hey Chirpy, I Have Ideas For You The Next Custom Tracks For Next Year: Red Shell Cup: 3DS Mario Circuit N64 Sherbet Land GBA Broken Pier DS Yoshi Falls Giant Banana Cup: 3DS Maka Wuhu Wii Dry Dry Ruins DS Bowser's Castle RMX Rainbow Road 2
As a Mario Kart Double Dash lover myself, this is one of the BEST Rainbow Roads in my opinion. You did an outstanding job remaking this track! And the Mushroom City-like city below the course is beyond wonderful!
Its... Beautiful... 🥺 Ive joked about this before but gen question, you planning on collaborating with gpct dx? Your tracks are some of the best CT i've seen
Great remake! The only thing it's missing is the stars falling down onto the track. I would also like to see a modern remake of the GBA and DS Rainbow Roads. Also I really want to learn how to make my own custom tracks I dont know how to.
Hello ChirpyLuNa. I just downloaded the mod recently, and the track just consistently runs at 30 or less FPS. I play this an Ryujinx so I have to ask how you were able to play it fully optimized and what your settings are, since I've been really looking forward to playing this mod.
Holy shit, this looks absolutely sick!! I love the amount of detail in this! The Peachette statue is a cute idea and a cool reference to N64 Rainbow Road! Also, I think this "What if N64 Rainbow Road was in the BCP and was not N64 Rainbow Road but GCN Rainbow Road" kinda take on this is just so amazing! Please, PLEASE (!!!!!) never stop making such incredible custom tracks! You currently are one of the peak custom track creators and I love everything you make! Nintendo gotta hire you, seriously!!
I’m really looking forward to this. Most GameCube rainbow road remakes I’ve seen just look like ass. I tried to make one myself, but at the end of the day, it was just the original model ripped. I have high hopes just based off a thumbnail and seeing your previous track work. You do update it with some new things while also keeping it faithful to the original.
This is actually REALLY well done! I don't really have anything negative to say on the track design itself, just a couple VERY minor nitpicks on the music: 1. The A section of the theme is TOO synthy for my taste. Considering the original definitely has a bit more of a "big band" feel, this one replaced some of the horn section instruments with synths. While it doesn't entirely ruin it, I don't think it fits the vibe as well. 2. This one is admittedly rather picky on my end, but the "Final Lap" variant goes up a whole step instead of a half step. So if it started in G minor, it should've gone to G# minor, not A minor.
I ADORE this! We got crushers AND moving bulldozers, the sirens before the huge jump can be heard, and the lighting looks sick as well! You and Charlie's Café did a fantastic job with this one and I hope we'll see more "collabs" like this in the future! Maybe you can try to port Charlie's version of Delfino Square into MK 8 once it's finished?
