Spot on. This scholar (so called debater) lives in Canada. He twisted the interpretation on RIBA saying Quran only prohibits eating RIBA money but not giving RIBA. So according to him, it is ok to buy a house paying RIBA.
Now we realise that our great scholar Sheikh Imran is correct in giving the interpretation of dharurat. As we see today people are rushing to the banks for housing loans and the more they lend money from the banks, the bigger and comfortable houses they could build instead of the minimum requirement for living. If we stick to the principle of eating pork when necessary at minimum amount of it, then Muslims will have to squeeze their incomes to the poors and poverty will be eliminated from this ummah.
Not to forget, under the current system , you never really own the land because you constantly have to pay a tax on it . Where does it say in the Koran that Allah will tax me for being on the Earth that he created for me and you ?
Sheikh is correct, for those who have the inability to comprehend! In short: SHEIKH SAID MORTGAGE IS HARAM! As u can make hijrah or rent, so there is no need or necessity to buy a house on mortgage!!
There is no such thing as Halal loans.Only one condition apply in something being halal, which is that not a penny is charged from the borrower on top of what he was sanctioned as loan.Period. Names could be any,for example,Service charges,administration charges,profit,mortgage, etc.

Has someone put a gun to your head to take a loan? Being a homeless beggar is better than someone with a 30 year mortgage.

Eating the meat of pork to survive is different then buying a house, because you can rent, beware people, who ever uses interest is declaring a war to Allah
A house where I live, the lowest of the low is around 700,000 USD, a good home is 1,000,000 USD. If I worked nonstop for the next 20 years and saved + rent I would still not even be close to owning a home with rent being in the 3,000s . What else can I do?
I live in the USA, we are not here to fulfill worldy goals but to attain the hereafter. you may live in a rental house like many Muslims do. Taking interest or giving interest is to proclaim I’m fighting with Allah. These are not my words but words of the prophet

Yes, you are right brother. And I am not qualified to denounce a scholar of Islam for his two words that I did not understand. But I find a lot of good in him that I really understood. And I see no problem sharing those non-controversial goods of any Muslim.
