At least this vid actually shows the work, unlike that other guy's vids that shows before and after shots. I presume that knowing how to do this took some research to figure out the parts swap. So, thanks for that. Doesn't the SI use a Torsen LSD?
So what these DIY videos dont highlight is you NEED to extended studs with open end lugnuts, and your spacer needs to be machined down to fit the rotor bore. DO NOT BORE out your rotor like some sites/people tell you too. And lastly the biggest bullshit on these videos, is the 5mm spacer is wrong. You need 6.5mm or 7mm at the most to make the rotor line up perfectly center in the caliper. I found all this out the hard way after cutting, drilling and grinding only to find out the 5mm is too small. Hope this helps others avoid massive headache.
I got si nhr3 and k20a3 from rsx. Putting in 86 crx. I just did the clutch and when trying to bolt the engine to transmission, found top 3 bolts are different. Left corner lines up, but other 2 seem off.
Nice video! However, that speed sensor needs to fit tightly and the hole must be perfectly round and machined smooth like OEM. Otherwise the sensor gear may not make good contact and the O ring around the sensor won't seal, allowing dirt and water to enter the transmission and possibly oil to splash out. That's one of the few things that is IMO worth paying a machinist a few bucks to do for you unless you have the proper equipment to do it right. Other than that great job though!
100% correct. I unfortunately did not drill it perfectly. So i did the next thing and bought the ktuned converter. It allowed me to use the civi si speed sensor to my 02 rsx ecu. Super easy to do. Wish i did that from the start.
I’d assume you would of swap counter shaft gear stacks as well as add the VSS ring gear to the Si diff trans and open the Type S and swap counter shaft with Open diff. Seeing the gearings the same
@@garciac619cg i have a 04 type s with a si trans, all i need is the k tuned converter? i was debating on dropping the trans and selling it for a 02-04 type s trans.
Some pple say you need 5mm, some say you need 6mm and then others say 6.5mm for perfect rotor center spacing at the hub, im guess any more that 5mm the hub no longer is guided by the center hub? The solution would be the aerogenics custom machined piece kit but does anyone know what thickness it is they dont say?
