Translation from Diangan and Cebuano lyrics: Forever new The unchangeable beauty of Your presence Makes me strong You are holy, God of all Praise be Your name I will praise You Praise the Lord
This piece is very interesting! Ill do a thorough research about it but i wanna share my interpretation for now: I believe this is the story of an indigenous tribe in the Philippines and how a stranger(pastor or missionary most likely) try to convert their faith from animism to christianity. I might be wrong but its very interesting and i wanna research more about it hehe. Amazing singers! Kudos!
@Vicente Fortunato Moran, Kindly amend the misattribution. The piece is by Excelsis Betil-Vina, one of our graduates at the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music.
hello everyone...thanks for liking this piece. just want to let u know that i am the composer of this song, Glongo Ko... sir eudy, our conductor, shortened the piece for this special performance in an international choral festival(Japan). that's me by the way, playing the kubing. God bless yah all.
+Excelsis Viña Hello po, it's my honor to have been part of one of the choirs who were able to perform this piece. I came from Sir Eman De Leon's choir.
I really, really love this song and the choir. I just cant stop listening to it. :) But sorry I just cant stop myself, I find 3:26 quite funny. Everything was so serious na kasi, may bigla lang kumalabog. Hehehehe. :)
The Philippine Madrigal Singers's version is much better. Considering PMS interpretation, intonation, dynamics, pronounciations, and modulations nothing beats them. Although i find this performance also good but PMS's version is outstanding! Anyway, both SMMC and PMS are Philippine-based so I'm very proud of them.
i hope SMC will bring back the SMC group. in contrary to one of the comments, there is no social obligation for them to support the social arts as it is not a statutory requirement for them as a business entity. it is their prerogative if they would wish to support the arts. we can just ask them to bring back the support that they have previously given to the SMMC. Thanks if this message will get to the attention of somebody who can influence SMC to give back their support.
"I took notes on every choir and every piece of music, and as I look back in my Symposium program booklet there’s only one page that has the word 'Wow!' written across the top. No one knew - I sure as heck didn’t - that there is any kind of choir tradition in the Philippines. But the San Miguel Master Chorale came onstage last night and blew the doors down..."~Brian Newhouse, American music critic
