I FINALLY GET IT! I made my husband come and see my first successful feather a minute ago. I have been trying to master a feather for months! No one else ever mentioned only going up 1/3 of the way and the half heart. Thank you thank you!!!
I just got my ruler foot (local sew & vac) and a few rulers (Amazon) a few days ago. I am having a wonderful time exploring this sewing/quilting technique TY so much for all your YT videos. ♥
Wow. This is a great video. I am getting ready to purchase a longarm and have been very worried about not adding the computer system. This really helped to give me the confidence to take the step.
Thank you for this video. I am just about to buy a new sewing machine and some accessories for FMQ. I found your video on how to use templates. Not that I am ready for that yet, but I have tried FMQ in the past and it's reassuring to see you get it wrong when you bobbled. I unpick a lot 🤣 Thank you for sharing.
I've been away from my tools and machine. Found this in my box of rulers and sat with pad and pencil, watched your video. Amazing how genius and therapeutic. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I'm recently just learning about this quilting foot, the quilting foot that I have goes up and down with the needle. I've never seen this foot that doesn't move, just the needle moves.
Just happened upon your ruler videos today. Im a newbie to longarming but want to get better at ruler work. Very informative I picked up alot. Noticed the last one was 2 years ago. Any plans to make more? Thank you
I have seen other videos on doing feathers, but never looked at them and I am glad. I think you explained in a way that makes sense to me. Thank you very much!
Thank you so much! Your attention to detail such as “checking clearance of the template” Is golden. You made the learning process so much easier , No frustration.
If you are referring to the long arm machine it is an Innova. I am not sure what video you are looking at. If I am sitting at a sewing machine it is a Janome 8900.
What an excellent tutorial. I'm sure complete newbie to quilting, have my templates, and have been intimidated to the point of doing NOTHING. This video has helped immensely. Thank you so much 💓
Now that is some of the wildest feathers I think I’ve ever seen! Thanks for the lesson and the inspiration. I actually purchased a big chalkboard so I could practice new designs over and over again. I think I spent a few weeks working on swirls before I finally got the courage to try them on a quilt. It was a seamless transition. I did a practice piece for about 15 min and then decided to put it to the quilt. It came out awesome! I’ve done a few feathers on a quilt, but I had to mark it out first. I’ve noticed my freehand feathers getting better. I got a long arm for Christmas and I love how the stitches alone make it look good, even if the form is a little off! 😂 I can’t believe how much faster it is to complete a quilt as well. I did a small twin on my domestic machine with freemotion and it took me three weeks. With the LA, I’ve complete two small full size quilts in a month! I’ve just found your channel and looking forward to seeing more teaching, technique and inspirational videos. I’m off to try practicing feathers again. 😁
I have the heart ruler but cannot figure out how to use it. Where is the starting point and how do you move along so that you do not have to stop and tie off thread so you can repeat the deisgn.
I’m such a beginner, this was very helpful to understand how to use templates, I have a pattern that I want to try, I think maybe I can now! Thank you!
