My brand new G29 had also quite a big wobble. Strangely enough, when disassembled, i didn´t found any loose screw. Everything was tight from factory. So when it was all disassembled, i at least added some more lubricant to all the gears and oil into the top bearings under the brass pinion gears. When assembling - you need to apply Loctite on the black screws holding gearbox in place - at least on the four that are at bottom of the unit - there are tightened agains plastic so they can´t be tightened with a big force otherwise plastic under the screw cracks. Well after assembling it - wobble simply disappeared, wheel is now tight and feels great. Don´t know where the problem was but it´s gone.
Looks like the car had a short shift poorly fitted at some point looking at the chrome where it was mounted high and bolts not tight enough ? I found mounting low gives about 30% less travel and high 50% less. Bit like a race car. Cheap and easy to fit besides getting the cable off the ball joint (big wide flat bladed screwdriver works) Thanks for another good vid
Hello mate, I know this video is quite old but I thinking about buying the same wheel as you. Did they give you the hardware to screw the steering wheel on the hub ?
Sorry to bother you, I need to know what screw Is needed to hold the bonnet latch to the car. I mean the 2 bolts you took out. One of mine somehow went missing and I wanted to replace my bonnet lock. My friend told me it’s a 10mm
@@PaulinhoThompson thank you and where do you reckon i can get a replacement screw from as I wanted to change both the latch and the rod. I just wanted to know the specs on the screw so i can just buy another.
Looked at my bonnet stand stay and it clips in. Think yours are missing a few millimeters or worn out? Or you can go fancy and install gas struts for a future post maybe
@@PaulinhoThompson It's one reason why I wanted an ST-3 to get the full leather interior and mines worn on the bolster seam too Paul so you're not the only one.
Thanks for watching, I believe Ford recommend every 125,000 miles or 10 years on the Mk2, which ever is sooner. But it's all subjective really, mine was done 4 years ago. Let me know when you get yours 😁
Hey Paul. If you look up " Ome denied performance " They do a plug and play loom that operates the fogs as normal but turns them on automatically with high beam
Thanks for doing this video Paul 👍 I've bought some LED fog units (rather than bulbs) to upgrade and it looks like an easy upgrade so thanks for this 👌
Hi Paul, went to install the LED fog units today, I bought a Ford Torx bits and socket set online and which one isn't included....yes T25, not happy. So have ordered a set of Torx screwdrivers T25 included so will attempt it next weekend..... hopefully 🤞
Old knobs/big shaft/lotions made me laugh. Or is my mind in the gutter ? On another note ...The shift kit is great especially if the linkage is mounted high. Its like changing gears on a motor cycle as they have a very short shift. Btw The ST (XR5) in Australia does not have the 12v outlet (lighter) in the panel like your car Paul. Thats a good way to have it. We have it (unlucky) only one located under the arm rest between the seats . That means whatever is plugged in the cord gets damaged from the arm rest . Or are you super lucky to have both ? Cheers
Hi Paul, your videos are great. I've been doing similar niggly jobs on my ST and this is on my list! I also want to repaint the bonnet vents that were on the car when I bought it. Keep up the great content 👍
Just looked at mine, drivers side is bad, passenger side is alright, I guess they go on drivers side because of the use, constant movement etc? Anyway thanks for the heads up and guide, I'll do mine when I'm next off work :D
