Nice video ! You should consider mortar/drone too when entering an ennemy FOB, they can be put litteraly in a back pack fairly easy ! i usually keep a backpack with all my gear in my car along with the drone in another back pack, they cost a bit tho
I think the rocket artillery outclasses portable mortars to the point there's not much point using them once you've got the money to buy the vehicle. The mortars are still definitely useful to start with, but you can't argue with the destruction that a full rocket payload gives you!
I picked up Arma when all i had was a crummy HP laptop using a charger as life support. I can confirm that this is exactly how single player scenarios on the base game looked.
Overthrow is a much richer experience than Antistasi will ever be while playing solo. The economy, support/stability and the way FOBs work in comparison to Antistasi's relatively dead world is a night and day difference. I hope you have a good time with the mission!
It was horrifying to build too. It went up before I had access to drones and because all of my other resources were coming in centrally, it didn't make sense to build a factory near the node when only the quartz needed to be brought in from elsewhere.
I understand that the gangs are on the player's side and the red area on the map is a sign that it is being controlled? Each faction will want to capture cities? Does the reputation of each faction have any significance?
The gangs aren't on the players side unless you recruit them, they are on their own side and can be hostile to both NATO and the players. I'll cover gangs in more detail in a future video in this series. The only faction that can capture towns or cities is the player's, as NATO abandons them when they hit 0% stability, or after a battle when the population exceeds 100. There are two types of red area on the map, the red "hashed" areas show restricted areas around military locations that you will be wanted if spotted inside, and the red circle around towns indicates NATO has abandoned it and it is in anarchy. That means the player controls it and can collect income from it, but as you increase stability again the red will slowly fade away and be replaced by green to indicate it is stable. Faction reputation indicates what they are willing to sell to you, again something I'll go over in future videos in this series.
@@JackArden Every time I take over a city, gangs with a large army come right before me. This has practically happened in 3 cities and I wonder if it should be like this. I'm already in such a war with them that very often they shoot at me for no reason when they see me coming (it's not always, but without warning I have wanted status). Moving the base somewhere further will make the gang not persecute me so much?
This is the kind of thing I mean when I say that gangs have more freedom once NATO leaves. Gangs always gain strength over time unless they are killed off, even small skirmishes or sniper attacks against patrols from the gang can bring their strength down over time as the number of members they have is tracked. They will attack you on sight if they have attacked you at any point in the past, which is explained in the notifications as "(gang) has recognised you". Once this happens they are basically hostile forever. To stop this happening, don't become wanted near gangs. They don't like you carrying weapons openly, for example. In a later video in this series I'll go over ways to deal with them.
I'm not too sure about vindicta because it was abandoned in a not-so-great state and it's a very simple game mode that you can complete very quickly by snowballing your army. It doesn't need a guide as much as other CTI modes, but I guess it depends on how much people request it.
Uhhhh, does this guide series count? I'm basically doing an entire playthrough alongside this to get footage and screenshots so I can't start another one right now!
Hopefully it will! There's hardly any useful documentation on Overthrow despite it being out for so long, so I'm hoping by making this guide series I'll be plugging that gap.
Thanks for watching part 1 of 5 from my Overthrow guide series! Below you'll find timestamps for this video as well as download links for everything shown. Hello I watch your videos about overthrow. I wondering if I can ask on how to save and load your game and how to disable stamina and how to use zeus in overthrow.
Hello! To save, press Y, then go to options. Here you can click persistent save to save your game. Wait until it shows a box full of text to be certain the save is complete. When you next launch the mission, you can use load save (original) to load your game. Overthrow does not support vanilla A3 saving, and the import text save method is broken, so don't use that. To easily modify your stamina, you can open the pause menu, and open the mod configuration page. You'll need to change the ACE settings affecting stamina and recovery. To use Zeus, press Y and open options. You can then click the enable Zeus button and press whatever your normal Zeus keybind is to open Zeus. I'll be releasing an overthrow tutorial in the next couple days, so you might want to check that out of you have more questions!
At the 3:04 loot stash ive noticed some stashes are really hard to grab. I had one in a tree and i couldnt jump and grab it. So what i did was shoot the item down from the tree. I imagine you can shoot alot of loot stashes to move them to easier places to grab
I have a more modern Antistasi series which I did recently- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JnuSGuygNN8.html This is the first part of it.
I just got into mil sim games and decided to try arma 3 again. I like that I can play alone and learn at my pace. I started with this mission and I just can’t figure out how to get my AI squad to enter a vehicle…how do 🤨
You need to either press the tilde key to select everyone or F1, F2, etc, to select individual units. Do this while you are either inside a vehicle or looking directly at one and you'll be able to see a "mount x vehicle" prompt on the context menu. Press space/middle mouse to get them to perform that action. They'll automatically enter seats in an order like driver > gunner > commander > passenger if you or someone else isn't already occupying that seat.
We did do a multiplayer Antiastsi series at some point. The A3 community really can't be trusted to have nice things though, we stopped pretty quickly.
@welch1284 I think the point of the video is that this was a hilarious place to get stuck. I don't think he is going to have a hard time getting out no matter what platform he is on.
Is that a general suggestion or something you think will fix the performance issues I had recording this video? I have been considering trying it out for the sake of recording to see if I can get a sharper image with a smaller overall file size, but the performance issues in this game aren't graphics related. It was so bad due to a combination of engine limitations and my save file being on life support. Nothing would have squeezed more frames out of that mess!
@@JackArden Well i tried it for myself on arma 3 and it doubled my fps. You should really consider trying it. I got RTX 3060 Ti Setup and at fight scenes my FPS drops from 80 to 30-20. But lossless scaling worked fine with me, ı even get more than 140 FPS in non-combat situations. I dont see any bad images in 2X scaling options. I tried it on Antistasi game mode, we captured nearly half of the map so there was a lot of thing my system needs to process but it worked fine.
It's good that it helped with your performance, but as I said it's not going to change my situation. Antistasi isn't really comparable to Overthrow in the amount of stuff happening in the background, but there's just a point where there's enough going on in game that the engine simply can't handle any more and you start getting performance issues because of that. Your system would have nothing to do with it.
In a sense sure, but it's particularly useful as a tool for catching pals. It is a shame about the things able to bypass the effects like the DoTs, but it's a welcome addition to the game!
