Man I didn't know that you'd have to hold both the playstation logo and share for 5 seconds. No wonder why it wasn't showing up in paring mode. Thank you so much.
I am struggling here. I have created 2 new users, but for some reason, I cant find a link I can send them to be able to access Synology using the credentials I have created. Can you please help.
@@tshidikhunou If you open Control Panel - File Services - SMB you should see the links your NAS thinks you should be using in order to access its services. However, this access will be dependent on if your NAS has been configured for local access only or remote and local access. So if the users are local users the link that you can have them use will be the local ip address of your NAS. For example 192.168.xxx.xxx This can the be followed by either a port number of the alias name for the service that user is looking to access. Ie 192.168.xxx.xxx/audio or 192.168.xxx.xxx:8800 However if they are remote users then they will need to use either your internet connections public ip address or its domain name. For example 217.155.xxx.xxx or Mydoodads.com followed by an alias or port number to the service they are looking to access. Unfortunately the kicker for remote users is that your NAS will have had to have been specifically configure to be accessible from the internet. You would have been done either using Synology Quick Connect or Direct Access services configurable from within the Control Panel of the DSM. If you used Quick Connect you will have to have your users use the domain name that Synology assigned you as part of the setup process for Quick Connect. However, if you used Direct Access you can have your users use either your public ip address or your domain name. Hope this makes sense, as it can be a little confusing if you are new to networking and NAS devices.
Hi! I just got my Synology DS223j i i want to create a user account but private... Meaning I'm (administrator) don't wanna be able to see or delete content that user uploads... I cannot find the way to do that... Do you know? Thanks in advance
As a general security rule, for both computers and file servers. You should never create and use an administrators account for standard day to day work. Instead you should minimise the number of administrators accounts you create on your NAS to one, and only user that administrators account for things like System updates, changes to settings and the installation of new software packages. For day to day work, ie using network shares or software services like Synology Photos, Video and Audio Station. You would use a standard user account, that only has enough user access rights to allow you to use those services. This is because, by design an Administrators account is specifically made to be able to have full access to the whole of a NAS. So if you have multiple administrators accounts on your NAS, and one account is compromised. Not only would you lose control of your NAS, everyone will also lose access to all data stored on it. As to your query, I think what you are really looking for is something called User Home Service. This is where each user of your NAS has their own Home folder which only they have access to. So while you will need to have an Administrators account on your NAS for system maintenance, virus scanning, permission setting and activities like backups. As long as you use a Standard User account when you access your NAS. You will not be able to see the contents of the Home folders other users are using. You can setup User Home Service when you initially setup your NAS. Or you can configure User Home Service after the fact by going to Control Panel - File Services - Advanced. In Advanced scroll to the bottom of the page and locate Enable user home service, by ticking the check box. Hope this helps answer your query.
I currently have 4 google wifi points but i want them all to be hard wired with ethernet to give a best signal on each points. do you have a video on it or do you know if this is possible? ex. something like ubiquiti access points
It is possible with certain models. However if you have a mix of Google/nest WiFi points in your home, some of those points might not work. This Google article will tell which models will or will not allow a wired backhaul. support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7215624?hl=en Just for additional information, I switched to Ubiquiti and was happier with the results. My WiFi network is now more stable, reliable and generally faster. However I found setting up the UniFi hardware to be a lot more complicated and required a lot of time tweaking the settings. So while I certainly learnt a lot more about WiFi, I suspect that I probable still have a load more to learn. As to actually hardwiring your Google WiFi points. If they are compatible it should be a simple case of connecting the router to a switch and then connecting the other access points to that switch. The access points and router should automatically detect the network connection and change to a wired backhaul. www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Wifi/Ethernet-backhaul/m-p/283983 Hope this infos useful
@@mydoodads I hardwired a Cat 5e cable from my switch to a second point, but my WiFi speed dropped significantly. When I disconnected the cable from the switch, the WiFi speed increased. I checked the termination, and it was fine. Upon further inspection, I noticed that I’m using a Cat 5 cable to uplink my switch. Do you think upgrading the cable from the modem to the switch to Cat 6 would improve the speed?
@shafis8268 Cat 5e should be fine as it supports 1000 Mbps up to 100 meters just like Cat 6. However I think you’re right, and you should try replacing the Cat 5 cable (100 Mbps) from your modem to your switch. A spare Cat 5e cable should be good enough if you have one.
I have a terrible battery drain when laptop is shut down. I checked and fast startup was by default turned on. Went through 2 weeks of support with HP calibrating battery but I stopped short of their suggestion to reset windows. HP support were just trying everything under the sun. Insisting that high current drain was normal. I will do the fix now and check and see if that works.
@@mydoodads I bought a replacement non OEM battery and put it in the HP laptop. I did not go through all that time wasting battery calibration which never resulted in anything. The static current drain when laptop is OFF and Fast Startup off was no different than the original HP OEM battery. Do not believe that a reset of Windows would help other than waste more time. Verdict is that model laptop has excessive static current drain.
Here’s the way and then hold down this mic and then wait for 15 seconds And Google or turn off and it won’t load and it will say hi to get started download the Google home app on the phone or tablet and you can turn off the mic and then that’s how you factory reset google
About minds from a yard sale and I'm trying to reset it and it's not doing how it's supposed to do I try to hook it up to the internet but none of this is not working so what should I do because I'm about to throw it in the garbage can I try to Bluetooth it to scan and everything but it ain't nothing working on my end
If the person doing the yard sale, did not de-authorise the Mini from their Google account. While you will be able to factory reset it and connect it to your Wifi network. You will not be able to connect it to your Google account. So the only option really is to go back to the person you bought it from and see if they can de-authorise the Mini from their Google Home account first.
That parts easy, when the Echo pop reboots, it will shout out in multiple languages that it’s ready to be setup. So you return to the Alexa app and allow your phone to see your echo over Bluetooth. You then just need to follow the on screen instructions.
On man that double Screen is so terrible, my iPad Pro 12.9” has 3 small dots exactly in the top middle of the screen, and one allows to open and close as needed….. 💪🏻🇺🇸
Not that I know of, so try pressing the reset switch on the back of the controller. You will need to use a pin or paper clip, and hold the reset switch down for 5 seconds. That will reset the controllers switches and sensors, hopefully also resetting the ps button.
