Imithente have become one of the biggest selling Maskandi groups in South Africa, formed years ago by Simosakhe Mthalane the group’s debut album Wafa Washonaphi, was released in 1993 since then they have matured in their composing, recording and performing skills.The female trio (Dumsile Manana, Buselaphi Gxowa and Nokwazi Ntuli) were exposed to traditional cultural activities at an early age and have been inspired by other female Maskandi artists, particularly by Amatshitshi Amhlope. The group is creative and take pride in creating music that stands out from other Maskandi artists. Over the years they have brought in new ideas and instruments, IGAZ'ELIBABAYO album released in 2006, the title track features a trumpet in a genre usually characterized by concertinas, guitars and drums.
