The last question was really good. If the tool travels from machine to machine, I guess the "minute counter" doenst really work for tool life, so the only way you know, that the traveling tool is getting dull is through spindle load? So I assume that only "big tools" are the ones that travel as if you would use a small tool it wouldn't increase as much the spindle load and create a part out of spec (defect).

I loved the analogy about how collaboration in business is important because otherwise its a race to the bottom!

I like it Jay, I would like to do the same as you and have replacement tools ready to go. Was thinking of marking a NEEDS REPLACING section on a tool rack which can be done when there is spare time. Thanks for the videos!

Can you go over how you have 3 guys running 10 machines and how they go over inspection , 6:40 you mention how you dont value speed im sure thats one of the ways you get to run your shop with so little people

Great idea. How about adding the taking of photos of each inspection item via the phone, so that could also be logged? I've worked plenty of places where these sorts of forms just get checked off quickly without an actual inspection.

All of the above option to me as production manager seems a bad idea because some people will just click it to get over this bureacracy. Otherwise its a great use of technology.

There are many smart plug systems. Which one is the best to handle industrial loads? Is it wifi controlled? Can multiple phone or ipad apps access them or does it need to be one? I have six or seven plugs in the shop that we do the morning and closing walk. I also turn the AC up or down. A smart system would save a few minutes every day for us which adds up over time!

do you have issues with coolant getting soaked up by the foam like a sponge? (probably less than with a bunch of chips l'd think)

A tip I haven't seen mentioned but I saw in your videos and immediately adopted is the magnetic bar near the door on the VMCs. I didn't even see how you were using it and I started putting hex wrenches on it and now I see you do the same thing. I've also started putting my little vise stops on it as well as sockets for my battery ratchet (one for swapping jaws and one for rapidly opening/closing vises).

where do you purchase your Kanban cards? What software do you use to create them?
@Pierson-Plus
@Pierson-Plus Месяц назад
That's a great question! We used google sheets to create a layout that fit our needs best. We would highly encourage you to do something similar so that you can get the most out of your custom cards, instead of trying to shape your needs to a premade card.

Loving the series! We assemble a ton of parts with M6 bolts that we individually put loctite on. Are you guys abke to tell me what you guys use on your 1/4-28 bolts @1:21? Looks like its dry. Thank you!
@Pierson-Plus
@Pierson-Plus 2 месяца назад
We order them from our fastener supplier with a dry Loctite product preapplied to them. This eliminates the wastes of over-processing (by applying the stuff from the bottle) and defects (by avoiding the wrong stuff from the bottle being applied on accident). Most fastener suppliers should be able to source them.

When you pull the Kanban card and reorder, what do you do with it? Put it back in the bin and wait for restock delivery? Thanks...enjoying the new channel!
@Pierson-Plus
@Pierson-Plus 2 месяца назад
Good question! We place the kanban cards in 1 of 3 holders: Purchased products, manufactured products, supplies. When the items are received, we find the card in the holder and resupply the stock location.
