Dr Kovaleski. I had a partial knee replacement about 15 years ago. I have a lot of pain and arthritis in that knee. My knee doctor says the only thing I can do now is a full knee replacement. Do you think there is a chance that embolization can relieve the arthritic pain in my knee? BTW. I am seriously considering PAE for my 95 gram prostate. I feel like your clinic would be the best option available for this, you know like the best in America. I read a lot of comments on videos like this one on various channels. PAE seems to work for many, but not so much for others. I kinda attribute the negative comments to the "pilot" so to speak. It is such an intricate procedure, I feel like success or failure has a lot to do with who is doing the procedure. That is why, if I do decide on PAE vs Aquablation, I am willing to drive 9 hours to your clinic. I called your office and talked to Cheyenne. I hope you are paying her well, because she is a wonderful "first contact" kind of person. My local Urology clinic seems to be good at Aquablation, but I am not so sure about PAE there. They are just beginning to offer it. If I decide on PAE, I will probably travel to Lone Tree for it. I don't think there is any clinic anywhere near me that has that GE machine that you folks have, nor the expertise in flying it. I tend to overuse the "pilot" analogy. I spent my working career in technology and learned that most technology issues are caused by pilot error. Users doing silly things.

There is definitely a chance that GAE can relieve your knee pain. However, GAE is not considered to be a definitive treatment for arthritic knee issues, but rather a temporizing measure to alleviate symptoms for up to a year, thereby allowing an improvement in quality of life with fewer doctor's visits. We can definitely treat your prostate issues. 95 grams is a rather large gland. Aquablation can have decreased efficacy with larger glands, and usually will require multiple treatments. As far as reviews go - in my opinion, expectations need to be agreed upon and understood by both parties before a procedure is done. Some patients feel as if any medical treatment should be 100% effective every single time. The hard truth - no medical treatment is perfect, and they ALL have failure rates. While a procedure like PAE has proven to be one of the most effective treatments for BPH, it still may not provide all of the relief a patient may anticipate receiving. What we know is that it's safe, as effective as any surgical option, has lower complication rates, and no risk of impotence. - Dr. Kovaleski

I live in Northeastern Ohio and I'm not finding doctors here like Dr. Nutting. I wonder what a plane ticket to there and back along with a week's room and board added to the bill would run. That seems the only way someone from Ohio could get the procedure? Or are there Doctors recommended that do the procedure in Ohio? Amazing, the advances of medical science and PAE is one of them. A procedure much easier for the patient than other options. I had mine done on Oct 20th. BUT, as Paul Harvey used to say “and here’s the rest of the story”. I’ll start with PAIN - for a day and one half after the procedure you will feel pain. Similar to a metal shaft being shoved from your rectum to your bladder. It hurts but after that time period it starts to diminish. Actually mine took 4 days to go away. FREQUENCY - if you think you had to go pee a lot before the procedure, wait until after. Easily twice or three times as often. BURNING - oh yes, yes, yes. FEELING - along with the frequency goes the constant feeling that you have to deficate but you don’t. Day 7 - pain is less but still there, had to call doctor for additional meds. But given the horrendous recovery of other procedures, DEFINITELY worth doing. THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. GOD Bless.

The PAE is a local anesthesia operation where you are awake and they threat a catheter into your leg veins and up and around and cut off arteries to your prostate and it dies back. This procedure (prostatic artery embolization) is performed by a procedural radiologist. It consist in inserting a caterer in the iliac artery (right and/or left) and guiding this caterer all the way through to the prostatic artery (right and/or left). Once there, the caterer releases a number of micro spheres whose mission is to cause an embolism on a part of the prostate, causing thereby the excess prostatic tissue in the transitional zone of the prostate to die for lack of blood. This is done on the left side and on the right side, or maybe on only one side at the discretion of the procedural radiologist. The results are mixed. Improvement is felt soon after the procedure and may last a couple of months or more. I think it is advisable to read upon, ask other patients who had this procedure done and really make sure that this is the right thing for you. It is definitely not a cure for all.

@@msotil I was reading about Rezum and it is so new that there is not data about how long it lasts, nor is there any indication of how many treatments it takes to be effective and whether the cost they talk about is the cost to cure it or the cost for one treatment which may or may not work. I thought there were other methods than releasing microsphere into the body to clog up arteries. Putting foreign bodies into the body always seems to be problem in the long run, and especially tiny ones that are unaccounted for. I thought I read about other methods like stitching arteries closed or cauterizing them? Finding out about all this has suddenly become a priority, and I am not sure we really get the truth from YT videos. It's all about selling.

@@justgivemethetruth Rezum takes 5 minutes. It was developed in 2013. I had it done two years ago and still going fine.
