no hate, but considering the save is a punching motion to the ball, having your hands close while in your stance can benefit many people as you are more explosive "punching" if you start with your hands closer to your body, when you make the save your hands should be away from you though. (Just my experience every goalie is different)
'33 son plays goalie, but I have youth football pads under his warmups/shorts and soccer shin guards. The knee/thigh/hip/shin pads take the edge off, but the ripped shots still hurt. With the reps youth goalies are seeing, keep them padded up and they can chose the right amount of gear in H.S. More reps will give us the best goalies ever, let's not leave their best game on the shelves because we burn them out early... and they all have a screw lose to play goalie.
Hey Coach Damon! Im a goalie that started a year ago, and just wanted to ask if you have any tips on how to get over jitters or fear of the ball. I normally have trouble when shooters get up to around 10 feet from the crease, or if a long pole is shooting. Thanks Coach!
