I keep looking for the comment from him or the other guy Powell when they were calling for “disproportionate retaliation” - if anybody has that, please let me know

I remember there was some talk of making him a five star general...which we've had none since WWII (and the Marines have never had that rank and I think only has two four stars). Under what circumstances would a five star rank actually be for real necessary?

It is more of a honorary achievement. It is usually given to an officer of high prestiege usually war heros like eisenhower marshall and washington. A general of the army theoreticaly has full control over the military save for the president and the sec def.

In military doctrine "encirclement" can also mean "operational encirclement", which does not mean in all cases a physical encirclement. We had the Iraqi forces boxed in physically on 3 sides and our air power alone could have prevented them from leaving. The decision to allow them to "escape" was a "political decision".

I BELIEVE his was the first incursion into iraq , i remember sadaam saying it would be the mmutha of all battles , many were worried , turns out our military was and stilli is superbly trained and equipped and leadership was perfect , that is what worries others today, the pull out in afghanistan was and still is a troublesome occurence

This is Russia vs Ukraine, if Ukraine outnumbered Russia in tanks and in personel from day one. Really does highlight the failure of Russia in it's initial week. All honour to Ukraine, but it is a freakin miracle they didn't lose everything in that first week. They were outnumbered on just about everything, and had special forces landing around their capital. You have to understand that the first strike is what really matters, that is where you can actually go all the way into a country with minimal resistance. Getting a proper foothold. Iraq sure was a failure politically, but damn it was a force of show in military power and tactics.

What a goat. Classic American archetypical alpha male professional well spoken, direct to the point but very thoughtful and considerate of his choice of words and was sure to give credit where it wad due to all parties and levels of both tactical military and logistical support throughout the Operation, particularly how he defended the French and the British key roles in the fighting and the heartfelt words in regard to casualties. Also enjoyed his comical wit when qpplquding Husseins extensive military accolades😂ouch that was vicious. In summation I was most impressed by General Schwarzkopf's constant theme throughout the entirety of his comments on the importance of protecting human life, even enemy combatants. That speaks volumes to this mans character, hes the kind of General Im proud to say was an American👏Thank you for all you did in your life in the service and protection of our great country and all the foreign nations amd people that you defended and helped throughout your distinguished qnd legendary career of military service. Salute General🕊️

A master class in success making it look easy. Also, that he spreads plaudits to other countries. I’m perplexed when I see or hear other countries who are Allie’s be very closed minded. Touting their deeds and criticizing the US. The US has done so much good in this dam crazy world yet it’s become sport to criticize both internally and externally. The General speaks as a team leader.
