We're the Eyerly Family from Texas and this channel is all about our adventures in our roaming tiny home - a 2009 Van Hool TD925 double decker bus! The bus is 45 feet long and just over 13 feet tall and is powered by a Cummins ISM 450 10.8l engine with a ZF AStronic transmission. Behind the bus we tow our modified 2018 Ford Transit T-150.
The bus was originally a MegaBus, then it was built out as a hotel on wheels by Cabin, and then we purchased it in August of 2020. After many issues with the builder in Utah we brought the bus back to Texas to finish it up and then hit the road June 1, 2022.
We are a family of 8 (Mom, Dad, and six kids, including one set of identical twins). Thanks for watching our build and adventures. Please like, subscribe, and share!
That is so unfortunate that the builder of your bus was not competent and reliable. I am sorry for all the issues you have gone through. No one wants those kinds of headaches especially having a company ruin your bus. Good luck with the suite.
Love your content, been watching for a while. Planning on doing a conversion soon, who do you have your insurance through? That has proved to be a challenge!!! THANKS
So much respect for you and your family! Hate that you have all the issues but I hope the lawsuit gives you what is deserved. Will for sure be following you all!
We have families in Lake Havasu and visited a time ago, we were at their museum and got all the story. I can’t fully remember the details now because it was 7 years ago, but yes, the developer of the city bought it and shipped it to make it a part of the whole design as they created the man made lake that gives the name to the city. It is a very interesting story.
My guess was 2 to 2.5 times higher - So appreciate you sharing the good and the bad. Your kids are learning valuable life lessons about resilience and how problems/difficult situations can be work through. It seems like a lot of folks demonstrate the opposite - I look forward to watching you ongoing adventures
Ya know, I don’t think any yt creator should have to put up with nasty comments! Good for you for deleting them! Another channel I watch is far enough along in the journey, and making enough money from it, that they have hired someone to take care of the trolls for them - removed from the channel and some have been passed along to law enforcement. Viewers should empower themselves to change the channel literally if it is not to their taste- there is so much content on yt, it should be easy enough to find something they’d rather watch - geez
I could definitely live in your bus, long term even! I’d have to give up my 3 fish aquariums though lol. Yes, I would definitely consider doing this. I could never afford 7 figures, but could definitely do the $180,000-$200,000 range. I don’t blame you for not taking the offers. This experience is priceless for you and your family!
I’m so sorry that you have had so many issues with your first builder :(. Praying for a quick resolution (if it hasn’t already). I guess I’m a year late for this video, but I just discovered your story and your channel. I’m addicted now. :)
I spent years researching as well, and almost bought a school bus conversion. You are so blessed to find this bus. It is absolutely perfect for your family! Love the bunks and the rooftop deck. Such a cool area upstairs for the kids to do their school work too. I just can’t tell you how much I love your home on wheels! Thank you for sharing details about your lifestyle and your travels for those of us who are interested in this type of lifestyle. For now, I will just live vicariously through you.
I bought a $163,000 class B last fall (didn’t pay that much, but that was MSRP). I would LOVE to have this bus instead. Its gorgeous. Wouldn’t want to park it though, if I’m being honest. Yes, I’m a chicken haha. I am so impressed that you have done this and what an amazing adventure for your kids!
Unless I know I can eat berries within a day of purchasing them, I go frozen. I used to feel guilty for eating basket of strawberries over 2 day but then I realized if I tried to stretch out eating them, they’d go mouldy and I was tossing them out. Also, if I’m going to pig out on something, fruit is a great choice. I love the convenience of frozen fruit and no waste really sold me. I make shakes with frozen fruit and frozen spinach and kale - I have learned to thaw out what I want to taste (blueberries, strawberries, cherries) and keep the kale and spinach frozen. I also add a scoop of cocoa so it tastes like a berry chocolate shake 😋
In your living situation, you should have multiple first aid kits. You don't want an accident happening on one level and have panicked people trying to navigate tiny stairs because the kit is on the wrong level. op, bottom, and both sides outside. Emergencies are best handled with swiftness and situational clarity.
I wanna do this so badly. So does the wife! But I don’t make enough money lol. I’m not interested in how much money you make but more interested in what it is you do for a living?
So … the story goes that a very wealthy American came over here to London and bought the wrong bridge … he thought "Tower Bridge" was "London Bridge", made a deal to buy London Bridge, shipped it all over, then realised his mistake, but obviously must have rebuilt it anyway! Now that's the story we all get told, how factually correct it is about him thinking "Tower Bridge" was "London Bridge" I don't know. Hope this helps! P.s. … SO MUCH admiration for what you are doing! Much love to you all from the UK 🇬🇧😁
I'm guessing $250k Edit: I expected the base bus to be far more expensive, and for the builder to have been better $200k sounds like a really good deal. You'll probably be able to get back a lot of that cost due to the time investment, which is one of the key things to consider whether something is good or bad. Vehicles usually depreciate in value, however coaches are built better, and time does convert to money. Edit 2: Just got to the part where you talked about offers, does not surprise me, idk if you could really sell it for more than the total cost of the road trip, but should be able to sell it for more than the cost of the coach Also, as a developer myself (mostly backend using Go, Rust, TypeScript, and learning Gleam to try and use that; as well as some business automation work), I'm curious what kind of developer you are (here you said tech, but in the Tiny House Giant Journey you said programming).
My wife and I live on about £25/week ($31), we buy in bulk and batch cook. Our living situation is pretty much the opposite of yours, 2 adults, with enough space to buy infrequently and take advantage of bulk being cheaper (space-money tradeoff), although we do share the lack of variety just for cost rather than space requirements.
I'm sorry, this has nothing to do with the bus, but, I'm just curious, what state are you from, your accent, is it Californian?? I'm from and live in Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬. ☺️😇
I have a lot of respect for you and your family for many reasons. Good job on taking this step. I’ve lived a variety of unique lifestyles and we home schooled our girls. I think about 200k would be reasonable. This is my guess before the end of the video
