Top speed was quick, but lost time cornering. We didn't have them timed, but a great suggestion... next time, if only to let them know how much quicker the 'big boys' in MotoGP are actually going.
@@gcm747 a bit of perspective. I raced a standard 2006 Yamaha R6 locally. At Broadford racetrack in Victoria, I lapped just over 1min. Troy Bayliss, two up on a Ducati 1098 with a mate of mine on the back, went into the 58 second bracket. Bayliss stated afterwards that he loved the extra drive/grip out of corners when two up, compared to having to control wheelspin when by himself.
@@robertchapman6795 interesting. I would have thought the bike would feel quite light on the front end with little feel and grip not to mention you can’t get off the bike to increase lean angle and a hell of a lot more weight to slow down.
Here in Australia we hear a lot about how great Wayne Gardiner was and sure he did win a Grand Prix BUT Doohan did it at least 5 times and some of the stuff he did was absolutely incredible AND on a bike that others were too scared to ride. I remember watching him drop the bike in the rain and ended up WAY back in the pack and he STILL ended up winning.
I love Mick and appreciate what the likes of Rossi, Marquez, Lorenzo, Rainey etc have achieved but I don’t believe for one second that there is anyone who can rightfully claim to be a better rider than Casey Stoner.

Had the absolute pleasure of watching Mick win many, many races here and abroad. Have met him at PI a couple times too (marshalled there 9 times) My avatar is a pic I took of Mick at PI turn 12…
My Mum was a nurse and there was lots of articles about Mick's surgeries in medical journals back then; the surgeries he received were pioneering stuff and as a result, many others have had limbs saved.
I once underestimated this legend, because I was trapped by Rosi's talk about a racer who is not great if he only wins with one manufacturer, I was trapped in not understanding motorcycle racing, then after I found out that everything is not that simple and easy, for years I swallowed trashtalk, now I realize...
@@oldgamer1330 It's not that simple, Rosi doesn't want to go to Honda if H0nda doesn't want to follow his wishes, H0nda must give him a special team and release Burges and make him Rosi's personal mechanic. The most reckless negotiation in the history of the racing team. Then coincidentally because Doohan is a H0nda racer and tester, RosI who was new there made Doohan part of the entertainment titled "mentor" then in the end when he no longer needed Doohan's name anymore, R0SI spread propaganda about the racer who was under one manufacturer.
