I typically go to bottom of my belt guard. That's 10" deep. I got guys around me that just go flush. Couple yrs later after customer is tired of hitting it with mowing deck, they call me to grind it the proper way. When I customer hires me to get rid of a stump, I'm gonna get rid of it! A big name outfit near me did a bunch of stumps on local golf course, after seeing me grind for the VFW next door, the grounds keeper we be calling me next time. He wasn't happy with the guys work. One complaint was he only went 3"or less.
unless you have 6 or more stump there is now way you should be considering $150/stump. those machines are huge buck. good way to keep you in poverty if you coming out for $150. not to mention maintenance of the machine and cost of those carbides are pricey as well.
What could be used to permanently clean your protective shield on your chipper? I know its tough to get those clean but it would be nice to see through it and onto your work. Thanks
Great job Chris! My truck went down over a week ago and I’m behind on jobs. Was supposed to be done Friday but parts got sent to the wrong place so with any luck I’ll be back in action Monday afternoon
Mike had the same problem this week rebuilding two cylinders. I order seals and them overnighted. Wrong seals when they came in. It took us four days to get it right. Thanks for watching!! Keep grinding
I worried about your man cutting the wood. He had no face shield, he had no protective pants, not sure he was wearing hearing protection either, maybe he was I couldn’t tell. Hope so. Safety first please. Thanks.
I live in Massachusetts 50 minutes from Boston, lots of traffic, I am looking to start part-time, once I start I'll will drive my equipment on that traffic for a whole week
I appreciate you sharing your experiences with us. I started a stump grinding buisness in northeast Ohio about a yr ago. I'm 49yrs old, I've been self employed doing drywall for 25 yrs now and I've always been interested in doing stumps. Your videos have been a great help in my journey. Thank you. The Grind Stump Grinding LLC.
Way to cheap it shouldn’t matter if it takes 10mins or a hour plumbers and electricians get paid thousands for little to nothing done I would charge easy 200 at least or else it’s not even worth it your machine messes up 100$ is not gonna help you fix it
love your videos man , grandfather was in the tree business for 40 years my fathers doing the stump grinding portion now as everyone here switched to bucket trucks and got away from climbing , when i tried to enter the field a decade ago they told me to go to college , grandpas words after he caught me on my first climb "if i ever catch you in a tree again ill skin you when you get down" . went to school got a really really good job that i hate lol , going back to the trades and what i grew up with and your channel has helped teach me what they denied to show me, getting my first stump grinder soon and look forward to waving at them as they pass and im grinding away .
@@ChrissStumpGrinding Thank you for showing how the machine works in real time (Not speeding it up). Also liked that you showed the machine controls as well 👍🏻
how much does it cost to redo field lines in WA state can someone chime in? if trees grow into drain field, what's the given that there will be a root problem? what's the ratio? and do you have to remove the stump and all of the roots right? So then the damaged pipes are removed. What if only 1 pipe is damaged, do you dig up and fiz that one pipe only after trees are removed? we are worried about one property that seems not to give any issues (yet) but it's 1985 property and they planted so many damn trees around the drain field, as if they had no clue that's a no-no
I made this mistake on my first job. This lady wanted the tree cut down and ground for under $1,000. I would have had $450 just in the stump grinding. At the end of the day she had another guy come do it who owned a stump grinder when I didn’t but the reality is most people are cheap and don’t understand. I would have done the tree for $900 which was a steal but she wanted both done at the same time. Understandable but I lost that job.
Why not just scalp around the stump and saw it off at ground level, unless your putting in a foundation for something , much quicker and way cheaper?!!
@jefferyschirm4103, you are right! I just didn't have my chainsaw in the truck that day or I would have done it that way. Thanks for watching!! keep grinding
David, no, not until I hit 3000 hrs on it. I'm fixing. I have to do a total rebuild on the motor. I really like the machine a lot, though. Thanks for watching!!! Keep grinding
