There's a few ads here whose songs appeared on The Best TV Ads...Ever! compilation a few months later - Bowie's "Heroes" in the You & CGU ad, Strawbs' "Part of the Union" for Norwich Union, and at the start, Moby's "Find My Baby" soundtracking Nissan Almera (which, given the appearance of "Porcelain" a few C4 promos later, demonstrates that Play licensing wave in full effect)
I've been looking for the Chatsworth episode of this Great Estates series for years now and just found the 2 you have uploaded, you wouldn't happen to have the Chatsworth episode? My Grandma was featured in it and would love to rewatch it.
I found out something. It was meant to be originally shown in the Autumn of 1995 but post production problems meant it premiere date would be pushed back to Spring 1996 (after Easter). Unfortunately, in March of that year, the Dunblane massacre occurred, which caused Children's BBC to show less violent shows and cartoons to gain parents' confidence over what children can watch. The animators refused to allow the BBC to make certain edits and have warned of major repercussions should it allow to happen. To avoid this and to gain confidence to both the BBC and the animators, they agreed to postpone the series till January 1997.
Did anyone else notice on the ring finger of Savile's left hand was a ring made from a glass eye taken from the dead body of an old lady in Leeds Infirmary mortuary? His depravity was unbelievable. Bastard.
And the sad thing is, poor Benny Hill took the hit from one of the most self-righteous 'alternative comedians' of the time where it destroyed his career. It never recovered. They certainly focused on the wrong man.
So Pans people made a lot of money taking their clothes off and showing absolutely everything off to the minutest detail held up by sticky tape . and Sir Jimmy dressed very smartly gets the blame and the abuse although we were happy enough to watch him on tv and make him the most famous tv presenter odf all time what a silly lot we were back then eh !!! . What a corrupted upside down society we live in . Look but dont touch but do look as often as you like at "Naked Attraction" today cos we want the viewer figures up ! How does that work ? yet nobody screems in howling protest at that show . But you got to hand it to Sir Jimmy , he is alledged to have abused all those children without them uttering a scream or a murmur , and after the abuse , not a single parent noticed the behaviour difference in their brat afterwards . How clever is that ? or were we simply not interested in our children to notice leaving it to them to report it to the media some 30 years after oh dear !
Look at three out of the five poor girls' body language, crossing their legs away from the perv. Not as if this was the first time they'd met him or knew what he could be like! Even trying to grope a young Colleen Nolan on TOTP!
They had nothing to fear, they were all over 13! Have to say though, here he was merely reflecting the adulation for Pans People. I was a teenager at the time, and just loved them. Would have loved to see a wardrobe mishap! I have heard that Ruth underwent one in the dance to 'Barbados' and that it's on RU-vid, but being as I'm 64 now, I can't be bothered! Rather have a cuppa.
