What is this from? It looks like maybe SNL or something. It's like I k ow that stage and the people but I just can't think of what it is right now lol. 🤔
I was born in 1980 and consider myself to be the tail end of the X gen. I certainly feel that way and have a really difficult time accepting current normalities. I get what you’re saying tho, via the fidelity and physical nature of VHS. It’s kinda like the retro video games; you need an original NES on a cathode-ray tube television to truly understand ‘80s gaming. My movie choices would have been slightly different, like the OG Star Wars (edit: you included it), Terminator 1 & 2, Predator, Alien, Aliens, etc. I’m a sci-fi fan tho. My fav horror movies as a kid were any Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street, cheesy as they were. I’d also have included Ghostbusters 1 & 2. Anyways… I have the original (unaltered) Star Wars on VHS and DVD. I think they cleaned up the DVD versions, but they don’t include the added CG stuff. Just wanted to comment, as a fellow traveler from a time before this day & age. It’s not nostalgia so much as something integral to society that’s just missing in our current era. That makes me sound old, and yeah, apparently I’m labeled as a “boomer” by modern standards despite not being born directly after WWII ended. It’s disheartening because I have a lot in common with modern youth. Sorry to go off topic. The devil is in the details, so-to-speak. Long live the good parts of previous generations. History is important. I could write an essay but I’ll close with a thank you. 👍
I really appreciate your comments! And all great movie choices as well! Terminate and Predator were both essential viewing in my youth and still are today. I also recently picked up an Alien trilogy box set, and those movies are absolutely fantastic on VHS as well! I can tell you my 20-year-old son knows all too well that something is missing these days, those third spaces we all enjoyed, particularly places like the video store where we could meet and discuss movies and just have a great time TOGETHER! I'm super hopeful that the kids today will find their way because I know they're tough, but I do worry about the impact of digital society on them. Just about everything they consume is digital and ephemeral. Yes, they have great video games to play today, but 20-30 years from now, most of them will just be a memory. They won't be able to just pop a disc in to remember their youth. I'm sure a rant about conservation in a digital world will be in my future! Thanks again for taking the time to comment!!
I’m from Connecticut, and drive to Tennessee at least twice a year to visit family. Every time driving down I64 South, I stop at Love’s in Grayson. Probably gonna stop by again my next drive down haha.
Seeing a young Jack Black in a video game commercial makes it more appropriate in hindsight that he ended up starring in the highest grossing video game movie in 2023. ^^
Great question. I should have been clear about that. This was mostly hat clip footage. I posted another video walking around St. Augustine and that was wearing the pendant. I think it does a pretty good job either way.
It's definitely very real. I had fun with the editing (obviously) just to creep it up a bit. Though it was pretty earnest and creepy already. Maybe it's just the 70s vibe.
Courtney is my Hero, not because she "has everything" but because like me, she has survived everything that was ment to kill her, and we have both lost so many that we loved dearly along the way❤️🩹 Hole is has been my jam to get me threw the worst of life, love the lyrics, and I can always totally relate! Thank you Courtney!❤❤❤
Love this! I was fortunate to see Hole live with Veruca Salt in the 90s, and she was mesmerizing on stage. Live Through This is one of my favorite albums of the 90s!
