Enjoyed your video. 😊 I wanted to mention another theme I see running throughout the album, but most pointedly in How Did It End? After listening to the album several times, I think I heard another theme/message in the album…. Taylor writes very personal, often autobiographical songs and she knows that. She knows people will analyze and discuss them, and as an artist she would want people to do that. I think the part of what she would like to happen is the reining in of the obsessive dissection of her songs for the details of EXACTLY who, when and where. (And Taylor seems fully aware she contributed to this dynamic.) I think it’s completely possible to listen to the stories she’s telling, relate to them, know that there’s a good chance they come from her life, analyze the music, the lyrics, references to other songs, etc. while not trying to figure out exactly who she’s talking about. We really don’t need to know that to enjoy and relate to her work. For example, if one song seems to reference an earlier song, we can know/say that the two songs seem to be about the same person. What we don’t need to do is try to figure out exactly who that person is. I also thought, Taylor might have been sending a message in the title track when she specifically used the names “Jack” and “Lucy”. That was very unusual for her to list actual names. As we know, Taylor is a VERY intentional writer. My take on why she did that is to say that she’ll tell us everything she wants us to know within the song. If she wants us to know, specifically, who she’s talking about, she’ll tell us. Now that I think about it, she also did the capitalization of KIM in Thank You Aimee. So there’s another one where she’s saying, yeah, this is who the song is about (at least in part). I also think that Taylor’s work has evolved beyond a one-to-one relationship between one person/event to one song. While she still seems to be writing some of them like that, in others she’s gotten a bit more abstract. She’s mixing fact with fiction (started in folklore but continues in this album- probably most notably in Fortnight). She also seems to be doing more composite sketches where several people/events are blended into one song. Just my thoughts.
I completely agree. And I think she definitely is also starting to merge fact and fiction, specifically in Peter. Like obviously it is about Peter Pan and Wendy, but I think it’s also about her and someone else and how they made me feel like Wendy waiting around for her version of Peter. I also think she wants us to dissect it and relate it more to our lives than figuring out who specifically it’s about in her life… but personally I like them so much more when I feel like I know explicitly who it was written about haha that’s just my opinion though. For example, if black dog was written about Joe, the song feels so different to me than if it was written about Matty, because I have two very different scenes playing out in my head then as I listen to the lyrics. Even if that’s not what she wants that’s just how it is for me haha but yeah I agree that I think if she really wants us to know who she’s talking about she will tell us

haha we thought that because in the beginning she talking about them rekindling and having taken time apart when they were just kids, which is like how they we friends (and maybe more) back in the 1989 era and then got BACK together when she broke up with Joe. All theories haha but yeah maybe we didn't explain why we thought that well enough in the video lol
Okay hear me out for the fortnight music video !!! Taylor trying to forget joe because she wants to break up with him. And the first person he will call is Matty (we can get it in the last scene). In the second scene she said to Matty loving him (joe) ruining her life her so she is unhappy. In the scenes where Post Malone is tattooed, he is Matty, and in the scenes where he is not tattooed, he is Joe. Why? Because in the hugging scene she wears Joe's ring on the middle finger. In Down Bad she says she lost her twin, so her twin is Joe. Because the hugging scene they wears just like twins. So okay hear me out! Attention!! Without tattoos is Joe but his face is Post Malone because she dream about Matty (guilty as sin) Boom!!! In the scene where the papers fly into the air while post malone and taylor are standing, taylor says "my husband is cheating". and those papers, I think, are the songs he wrote for her and the whirlwind begins. The lack of surprise on Taylor's face is also shown prominently. I don't know, it's like I am not upset, I just found a reason to leave. So I think the cheater is Joe. And finally she broke up with him and called Matty at the last scene. And the guy who is experimented on taylor is also Joe because of the look (and down bad is about Joe. He is experimented on Taylor and she is crying at the gym (She talks about singing songs on the treadmill to prepare for the Eras Tour) And plus lom! is about joe (london boy-lowdown boy this is a huge clue) Just a theory though🤡😂
The line on Alchemy about heroin is super important in the context of the entire chorus. "Touch down Call the amateurs and cut 'em from the team Ditch the clowns, get the crown Baby, I'm the one to beat 'Cause the sign on your heart Said it's still reserved for me Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy? These blokes warm the benches We've been on a winning streak He jokes that "It's heroin, but this time with an E" 'Cause the sign on your heart Said it's still reserved for me Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy? I'd argue this is quoting Travis making a joke about the Chiefs winning because of Taylor's attendance, and is a double slam on her ex. The chorus feels like its a metaphor for Travis being romantically interested in Taylor, maybe even things he said to her to win her over, calling her ex's amateurs, clowns, blokes being benchwarmers...Travis egotistically saying he's the one to beat, the sign on your heart reserved for me, being that he's the perfect fit for her. I'm also high as shit so idk
Laughed so hard at : " I'm sorry but i dont wanna hear a song a bout Travis" "You're gonna have to when they get married and every album for the rest of her life is about him." 😂 I also think that song is for sure about him!! (not sure about the them getting married part though 😂)
I truly think she held a torch for Matty all those years (they met in 2014) and she would think about him and fantasize about him when things were bad with Joe and knew he was the one she was gonna call first. loml is about going back to someone and I think it's him. Sometimes the situationship is more passionate than the relationship.
I think it’s both. Even the songs about Matty are also about Joe in some ways. Her pain about both of those relationships blurring and muddying together, both of these men who made her promises of a future and ended up not being able to keep them.
ahhhh yes Molly actually did say something about that line tying back to You're Losing Me's "my heart wont start anymore" but i cut it out to save time in the video ughhh i shouldve left it in! my bad haha
7:40 What do you mean by "your most recent grade" I have no idea what you're talking about. Should I multiply my cumulative unweighted GPA by 25 or something?
By most recent I mean whatever your most up to date transcript says. So like, you apply during your senior year, your most recent transcript will probably be from your junior year because you haven’t gotten your senior year grades yet. Does that make sense?
