Would have liked to know if Roger had seen any yummy HRC prototype bikes in Japan, I heard that there bikes are 5 years a head of what we race in the GP,s😊
I remember (and have on video) swordy racing a kx 60 at Brampton n literally doing a demolition job on the full field. At the time we called him the flying Scotsman.
Always been fan of swordy. And one of my personal highlights was wen I got a ride at the British under 21 championship at my local track at tinsley green in 98 ( I was told I was riding a support class) and I can say I raced on track with swordy and we inadvertently bounced off each other during practice
Awesome episode! I remember running to the shop to buy tmx on a Friday to see how he had got on at the gps. The amount of good British gp riders we had back then..
When I hear this Swordies name I always think of that old kids TV show that featured him, Glen Phillips, Tony Marshall & co racing at a schoolboy National. I recorded that to VHS and must have watched hundreds of times as a kid... Anyone remember it? Did it ever surface on RU-vid?
@@outdoorvanconversions6260 it was something else, think they followed all the families to a BSMA Champion of Champions race. Surely someones mum must have it on VHS somewhere? haha
Love Wobs has to have a fiddle with him now cos he’s autistic AF🤣🤣🤣love swordy grew watching him from Team Green on an 80 with the UFO gear and pink splashy Arai🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻OG
I worked in the motocross industry for a couple of years. Everyone knew each other and some weren’t particularly welcoming to outsiders but Wob and Jeff, plus Rob Hooper, were always great to me and made me feel welcome. Top blokes.
great to see swordy doing a podcast with you lot. not seen him do any before what a legend for some reason i was expecting a scottish accent though lol.
hey guy,s when are we going to have a part 3 and 4 with billy mac part 1 and 2 was your best podcast by far im sure billy mac has many more stories tucked away i loved the story with big bill and the japenese moto cross technisions telling them how he,d been tuning billy,s bikes since he was 6 years old in his deepest scottish accent.
Interesting when Rog mentioned that his mum sponsored him when he was a young rider. When I rode schoolboy scrambles in the late 70s we were a single parent family on a low income but my mum paid for my fuel, my entries and marshalled for me week after week. Without mums, where would we be, eh?
Had to laugh at the comment about the Double jumps at Worcester MX school. Roger taught me to do double jumps there in '86. I didn't realise he'd only just taught himself!
If my memory serves me well my dad Ray Barber (Lead Mechanic of Brian Leask Husky Team) built a really trick 125 Husky for him circa 75/76 that had the carb inlet in to the crank! Air leak made it over run (My brother had it for a while).....Great days...Roger talks so well and really engaging....Top Bloke....And Huskvarna is town where Husqvarna were made. Went to the museum last year, there was a Mikkola 360 my dad built the gearbox in.
Love Roger too, like Mansel needs the tache!I remember you at hssc club in the experts with the yamoto van, Roger and dave Watson did a yamaha reveal in Crawley in a hall , 82 or 83?
Roger is a star. I went to one of the first MX schools he did with Tim Matthews in '85, I crashed on the final day and Roger got my squashed pipe fixed. Saw him later that year at the Cradley Heath Speedway 'Supercross' meeting when he was still on crutches for his hips.
Great stuff as always so nice to look back at the good old days in what was the best era of scrambles and motocross it would be nice if more people listened to your podcast there missing a good old watch
mate meet conrad at Ernée last year just after his second race he was completely fucked after that race and still gave us the time of the day spoke to us so kindly and shook the hand of me mate little boy lovey guy so humble in fact the whole british crew was great , we live in france since 94 we not rich so we don't get to see the british guys often and they really made our day big up you all
Always Remember meeting Conrad a few times when he was a wee nip, he rode the track I call my baby, the awesome maisemore mx. He's Been there a few times training with Justin Morris. Then the one race a year we have he entered.amd was a joy to watch. Awesome guy, bloody good rider. 🚜 ,, Jeff peret brilliant as usual 👍
That green hat plug is your ticket to AMA Motocross for a round or two !!! This year ?? Conrad, you have to be a top 3-10 placed MXGP top dog, At GPs do you struggle with a mental issue that you don't fully understand yet, you have to believe you belong within the top 5 ?? Every British, especially ex riders, would love to see you take MXGP by storm, you have what it takes imo, also festival bog cleaner !!! 😂 AMA then MXGP ?? Imagine having DT in your corner at GP's 🎉
