I setup my valve the same. Hold it to split detent return. An old friend of mine split his hand down the center. He was lucky not to split it across. It would have been difficult to reattach his fingers. I like knowing if I'm not holding the valve in the split position , it stops. Auto return let's me clear the wedge and grab the next log.
@@henryhenry5897 it was only two years + dead and cut into rounds. It was only split a few weeks. Someone already taught me the difference between seasoned and just wet in the comments👍
Well said, I had a bump while I was out cutting firewood with my Dad. I skated twice that week and just finished cutting, splitting and piling 15 cords of wood. November 29, 2022. widow maker was 99% blocked, Right 100%, three at 70%. Thought I was fit as a fiddle, boy was I wrong. My body was fit but my heart was clogged up big time. Doctor said I had four and a half newly grown arteries that were feeding my heart, the only thing that saved me. Staying in shape helped this happen. Doctor said my condition was due to long term elevated blood pressure and stress, poor choices of food (processed foods).. He told me after the surgery that I have the body of a thirty- five year old (as I was I good shape) but the heart of a 90 year old. I was lucky, I did not have a full heart attack just shortness of breath and a pain in my left elbow. I recognized these sighs and took two ASA right away and got to the hospital. When I arrive at the hospital my vitals were normal actually better than normal but the blood test reviled that I had something going on with my heart. Will, I kept getting pushed back for the angiogram because their were more critical cases, so they though and I was in little to no pain; until they did my angiogram and found out what was really going on. The next day five bi-pass.6 and 3/4 hour surgery only took 2 hours and 40 minutes because everything else in my body and around my heart was very healthy. I was lucky, no blessed. I'm doing great, eating way different and my testimony sounds like yours. I felt like I was listening to a mirror, made me want to share my very similar, almost identical experience as yours and almost at the same time. I was thinking... wow we met here and could have met at the pearly gates two and a half years ago... life is funny that way, Gods plan not our, right.. Well I have my permit and am going to cut 15 cords of wood over then next month, with my wife, my boys, my grandkids, my older brothers and my 84 year old dad. Take care my friend, cherish life and stay healthy. Regards TDawg.
@@tdawg8605 Thank you so much for sharing! We’ve been given a second chance by grace. I’m gonna keep sharing! Our families need us. I’m actually eating a big salad with a couple grass fed beef sticks as I’m reading your testimony‼️
“For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 “and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
@@markd9105 I had a bunch of issues against me. I didn’t cut and split the wood early enough, it rained horribly that fall, and then it was stacked in the shade. My definition of wisdom- I wis dom, and now I know better 🤪
I will tell you exactly why your chimney caught on fire. Clean your chimney for crying out loud. Now I dont condone burning wet would by any means and of course season your wood, through that moiture metor away. Clean your chimney. I here so many people say I clean my chimney once a year or twice a year that is bull shit. I have used wood heating all my life 50 plus years now. First and formost pay attention to when fueling the fire dose the smoke leave the fire box fairly fast? If not it is time to CLEAN your chimney. I no its a pain in the ass but I clean my chimney every month if I am running the stove fairly hot. If I am running the stove moderatly I clean it every 3 weeks and if I am running slow fires in it I clean it ever 2 weeks period. This needs to be done no matter what kind of fire wood you burn, trust me I have burned it all. Again I no it sounds like a pain in the ass but take it from an old fart that sleeps well at night CLEAN your chimney.
@@dog_guy-c8x my chimney was clean just a few weeks earlier. My secondary burn catalyst was trashed and my wood was wet. It gummed up in just a few weeks
@@simplelifewithrobertpusate294 Well as I said in that few weeks it clogged up. I have already said I do mine sometimes in 2 weeks cause that is how fast it can build up regaudless of the type of stove you have. For me its a no brainer I get up in the morning have already assesed that I am cleaning the chimney the fire is out from the night before , clean it bang done and no worries . I am not trying to be an asshole am really just telling you what has been true all my life. Have a great day.
I agreee brother firewood folk are generally good company. I am curious why you stack your wood as opposed to making bins and throwing it in loose like Chris does in the woodyard?
Thanks for commenting. I mostly stack because you can see the woodyard from my kitchen. I like the look. Plus, it helps me with amounts. My trailer is new and so am I. I am planning on making a bin as soon as it starts cooling down and I start cutting and splitting again. It’ll be where you can’t see it from the kitchen tho 👍 I’ll know my trailer better after this winter.
@@Mightiflier by splitting it and allowing wind to get to it. That Ash had been dead and cut down for two years but wasn’t bucked and split. Even tho it was dead enough for the bark to have fallen off, the inner was still in the 30% range. Once split and stacked where the wind could dry it out, it dried fairly quick. Thanks for commenting.
@@simplelifewithrobertpusate294 I spent a couple of hours earlier today, splitting wood for next November, simply because our town had a storm with 90 mile an hour gusts over a week ago, plenty of firewood stacked along the roads here. Thanks for your response, I always wondered if the wood HAD to be split earlier in the season, now I know. Thanks!
I got a cord delivered from a landscape guy (who also owns a firewood processor). He claims it was "almost seasoned." I think the reality is he just fired up the processor the day before and the logs sat whole for a year. My other concern with wet firewood is what happens if someone throws a few wet splits on and leaves the fire unattended? 30 minutes or so later, that fire will be over-firing. I keep thinking of installing a probe thermometer with over fire alarm but haven't looked into that much yet.
Now that I’m selling firewood, I’ve learned a heap. I just received two full truckloads of oak. I can guarantee that when I cut into them, even with how they’re stacked in the sun and wind, they’ll be above 20%; usually closer to 30%. Thanks for watching!
I’m not sure exactly how long it was split. It was a very rainy late summer and fall, and there was no sun shining on it. This is why I suggest having a meter. I was a novice back then and wish someone had shown me.
I like the loose thrown ones that are really 1/2 a face cord stacked, but people call them 1/3’s of a cord 😂 how can it be loose thrown and possibly be as much as stacked!
We have a lot in common, now I eat maybe 1 slice of bread per week, rarely drink a beer, and upping my firewood production. Recently also got an Eastonmade splitter.
Good news! Loving my Ultra, have a dinner roll once or twice a month and actually quit all alcohol because it wakes me up in the middle of the night👍 Thanks for commenting.
This is definitely not the way our bodies were designed to eat.. it might be your body’s desire but we were designed to eat meat and vegetables. Study up on some history it’ll shock you how carnivores were healthier than people are now a days who are “vegan” or whatever the hell you are lol
@@simplelifewithrobertpusate294 right,…??? It’s not hard to figure out. The formula is easy, lol. Those are numbers that sellers should have in their notes on their phones in case they need to demonstrate to their customers how much they are getting.
