Due to it’s size I actually place my Romeo 7 more to the center of my PSA Marauder 7in (w/ no hand guard pic rail) & just extend the brace out to give me more peripheral vision ADS since I don’t use 3-5x magnifier on that setup
@G2niverse

The Romeo 7 is a pretty big optic. Not to be that guy, but using ADS isn't really a thing outside of first-person shooters. You can use sight picture, acquiring target, or just simply "aiming".

Great video. I have had a feeding issue where the round would get stuck trying to exit the mag. I have noticed that if I smack the magazine upward with the bolt back the magazine is actually traveling up farther, causing the bolt feed to contact the upper lip of the mag. Only does this on pmag and pro mag because the cutout at the top of the mag is rounded on the back, vs square like the metal mags. The square metal mags have more clearance when slapped upward vs the plastic mag. Is there anyway to fix this or do I just need to use the metal mags?
@G2niverse
@G2niverse 10 дней назад
You can use the metal mags or get a utility knife and a file and slightly square off the rounded edges of the back of the polymer mag (or just the corner that engages your bolt catch. Just remember they round them because plastic doesn't like 90 degree corners, they create crack and stress points which is why they round them...for strength.

07:48 - Above all else, the BCG can - and will - make ot break nearly any/all carbines/rifles. On the three carbines I've got designated as hard/duty-use/absolutely-cannot-fail-me-no-matter-what, I even keep a complete (headspaced prior) replacement bolt soaked in Eezox, wrapped in a thin little square of rubber & stuffed up inside my pistol grip (using rubber plug for positive retention). I regularly use a stopwatch (or ask the woman to help) to time myself 'discovering' an unrecoverable malf, popping pivot pin, removing CH & BCG, quickly breaking down my BCG & swapping in the new bolt, & of course retaining the broken bolt to be rebuilt later unless obviously catastrophic (busted lugs) issue is present. It's a damn fast process, & I think most of us can get it down to sub 1min swap w/ a little practice. Thanks for the video - glad I found you. Subbed.

Do you think a 2.7 Oz buffer is too light for a AR-15 rifle? My sons rifle has short Strokes I think we got about eight rounds to shoot at one time and most times it was two or three then a short stroke
@G2niverse
@G2niverse 20 дней назад
It depends on a few things... the gas system length (rifle, mid, carbine or pistol). The kind of ammo you're shooting. And the kind of gas block you're running. But for a carbine length system, 2.7 should be sufficient. The other thing to consider is his shooting skill. Is he new to shooting? It's not uncommon for new shooters to have feeding issues, just because they are learning proper shooting technique.

One could argue it is a _real_ ACOG, but not a real _Trijicon_ ACOG. Just as a Kimber 1911 IS a real 1911, it is not a Colt 1911. Since ACOG refers to the design of the scope. The ACOG you have here does not have a tritium night illuminator, so there is that.

@G2niverse
@G2niverse 22 дня назад
If it cycles I through the mag, you may just have an out of spec bolt catch. Easy test is to lock it back empty and give it a good whack on the side or the stock, if it slams forward, it's your bolt catch. Did a video on this too.
@JCam151

Buy once cry once! Good advice or range snob propaganda? What I purchased this from Amazon or temu (Whichever when it was I can't recall) I didn't even know accutac, Atlas, or even Harris were a thing. I just wanted to throw a bipod on the front of it so that the next time I went to the range I wouldn't have to borrow their bag. I unscrewed that very screw he was talking about here and misplaced one of the springs for the picrail clamp. That makes the quick release a little wonky.And I guess it will create an even pressure somewhere in the mounting. Yet in the grander scheme of things I don't think it's gonna cause me misses. I don't know any competition shooters personally. But I also don't know anyone who ever said.I missed the shot on my target because my bypod was cheap. Food for. Thought. On the flip side of that I put a cheap red dot on my glock 40 When I took it to the range to 0 it in The windage or elevation was so loose I think the force from there pistol sheared it. I forget what that 1 was called.But I upgraded to a Vortex.
@G2niverse
@G2niverse 22 дня назад
Agree. There are some things that you can go cheap on. The bipod is a no brainer. Why spend 200 when 20 works fine. Optics are a different story. If they fail you're in a bad spot.

Absolut genius Video <3 thy a lot for your work sir!! I recently had problems with my AR15 and I had to replace the extractor because it had completely blown out after the pin had a defect. It was torn off halfway round at the locking point. What surprises me is the O ring of the ejector. Is this fitted to all AR15s? Because when I dismantled it I realised that none was fitted. Only the small spring with the small plug in the spring... Anyway, after I fitted the new extractor, the AR15 loads cleanly with buffer cartridges and ejects cleanly, no matter how often I do it. So far so good. A shooting test is coming up, then we'll see

If you put a spoon over your eye and slowly move it away you'll see more and more. Same principle would, of course, translate to ret dot mounting. But would you agree this matters little unless there are a couple more spoons in the room trying to kill you? I only bring this up because if I place the sight too far back I'll have an eye full of red and too far and i'll have the red circle of death. I keep mine around the middle of bolt carrier. Your channel and video popped up just now and I watched it. I am a gunsmith and have been building firearms since 1983… when building rifles (mainly bolt guns) and after drilling and tapping for scope bases (using Mauser or other military actions back in the day) I would use my (zero and group check scope) to verify point of impact and group size from the rifle. My old scope finally gave up and I just grabbed this crossfire 2 3-9x40 scope at a Cabelas in 2018 to use in its place. That scope has been used on .220 swift through .458 Win. Mag… mounted on at least 36 rifles and it is on my .458 Win. Mag. Built on a GEW 98 Mauser Action (someone bubba cut the gun before I bought it so don’t cuss me too hard) and it still holds zero. I would guess 100 plus rounds of .458 WM and it never has lost zero. Having used Schmidt-Bender, Leupold, and pretty much all in between… this Vortex impressed me. If you don’t let your ego get in the way. These are reliable optics. Great review…

I drilled out the big nut and tapped it, so it now has an M8 thread all the way through, you can then use an M8 grub screw in the bottom to lock it to the stud. Then you can choose your level of preload, and lock it. I also used an o-ring under the big nut...

Mounting the dot forward has less to do with what you're aiming/shooting at and is more about having situational awareness of other potential threats around you. Remember, it's a red dot, not a scope. By moving it to the back, yes you can still acquire and hit your target quickly, but you're treating the red dot more like a scope now and loosing some of your situational awareness. Not an issue if you're making 100 yard shots at the range, but in close quarters defending your family from multiple attackers it could be.

Thanks for the well explained video. From my military service, where I used a SIG 550, I was used to always being able to secure my rifle. When I bought the AR15, I was a bit confused at first that it didn't work as usual. In the meantime I am of the opinion that the bolt can be in the front and the safety lever in the firing position. Provided you have put your rifle in this position yourself. Use chamber indicators on the shooting range to make it easier for the people around you, to keep overview. My rifle is kept at home in a safe, unloaded and separate from the ammunition.

The number of people saying "no, you mount it wherever is most comfortable" is annoyingly high. It's a red dot. There's no eye relief and no benefit to having it further back. Doing something sub-optimally because it's "more comfortable" means you should be training more instead.

The whole point in having an AR is that the rifle is adaptable to the person. Put a weapon site where is works for you. Don't adapt to the rifle. This goes for any accessory. if you need a larger viewing area then you have a wrong optic. This is why I run Eotech.

I don't see a relationship of the actual bore to the laser. I don't understand how magnetically attaching to the face of the barrel (perpendicular to actual bore?), and guessing at collinear placement of the beam to the bore that can't be seen, can possible guarantee a bore sight alignment. I can manually push it up with the bolt all the way back and the new strike industries 308 catch barely holds the bolt in place. If I pop the rear takedown pin and open raise the upper off of the lower, push the bolt catch up and slowly close the upper, It hits the catch and push it down a little, so the catch isn't raising high enough to hold the bolt back. This is a strange one for me.
