Of all the characters in the series, I think that Amos' portrayal was 100% the most accurate of all the characters, the others did a great job with Holden, Naomi and Alex, and Draper was absolutely fantastic, almost exactly as envisioned in the books, but Amos was done impeccably. Yeah, he's younger, not fat or balding like book Amos, but goddamn does he fill the boots. Wes Chatham did an amazing job of portraying Amos exactly as the books put him. Matter of fact, not a stranger to profanity or exactly Crazy, but wired in a different way to normal people. He never looks like he hates or particularly enjoys anything he does (just like Amos), but he captures that coldness perfectly.
DAM! such a good scene! Watching this while at an oilfield waiting to change filters. Just about to start episode 6 in season 4, just taking a little You Tube break.
Amos really can just turn his emotions on and off like a switch. Reminds me of the scene in the book when Protogen tries to smear Prax and Amos sits him down and is like “look buddy I like you but if you did that shit to Mei I’m gonna have to kill you on principle”
Echoing everybody here's sentiment ... this scene is just incredible. Prax ... Amos ... even the Doctor. Just reason 892341 why the Expanse was a great show.
When in DND the barbarian/rouge/fighter stop the cleric/paladin/wizard from doing something that they would later regret only to make sure the job is done after they leave.
The Expanse, the most underrated series overall. I was first sceptical, but after seeing some episode, I kept binging until the last episode of last season and now waiting until they change their mind.
Amos is always uncompromisingly ruthless when it comes to protecting children. He may not be a good guy, but he will never harm a kid, and will badly hurt anyone who does.
How is Wes Chatham not the most in demand actor in Hollywood right now? Marvel wants their new Wolverine? Someone who can add actual depth to the character? Well guess what - here he is!
In case anyone hasn't seen it, Dr. Strickland, the guy begging for his life, was lying out of his arse here. Although he treated Mei's genetic illness, and did get her out of Ganymede, he only did it so he could use Mei as a guinea pig in protomolecule research. Mei was next in line when the previous child turned into a hybrid monster creature. He basically kidnapped her, and caused her to witness a human body turned inside out. He caused Mei a lot of trauma. Strickland definitely deserved what Amos did to him.
The emphasis being on AM and not on I is so well written. It makes it all about just stating a cold fact and then executing on it. Amos knows he is already in a place where he can't allow Prax to go. While for me it's miles off from getting close to it, The Expanse in so many ways is this generation's Babylon5.
