Very cool - I never thought of finding mountain man stuff at antique stores. We stopped in at the rendezvous in Pinedale last summer. I ate it up - my wife...not so much. haha I'm hoping to convince her we need to go to the Fort Bridger rendezvous this fall. I just found your channel - good stuff. I don't do any reenactment but enjoy all things mountain man. No better movie ever made than Jeremiah Johnson - just watched it again for the umpteenth time a couple nights ago. Thanks for sharin your journey.
Tin Pot, Tin Cup, and a Fenneko to go into the pot to consume for her vital essence for sustenance. Also a classic Aggretsuko Hat, just like the pioneers used.
Thanks, I was originally going to just post a full length of the rise of the resistance. But I had quite a few photos of galaxies edge plus videos, so I made it into kind of a mini movie.
These are the locations I travel to to work on The videos I’ve been making this video was made in case people wanna go to those areas to see for themselves. Plus to give back to the areas I visited.
It’s like the first technical camouflage used but the US army was the white linen or canvas uniforms that ended up brown that was used on patrols out of desert forts.
Dirt time, Dirt time, Dirt time, when I first started my journey into hard core re-enactment it was so bad and I was a green horn. I was good at flint and steel but I was so green that I though that I could use dry grass, it was a long wet weekend and I didn't eat for two days no fire no cooking and no food but a few cold hot dogs, my leather moccasins were very wet along with my leggings. My wedge tent was a sagging in the middle so wet and cold and hunger it was the best black powder ever. I later found out how to make and use char cloth and that changed my whole world. since then I have learned the art of eating an elephant, One bit at a time my friend. May I suggest if you are not a member of a local Muzzle Loading club start there and go slow my friend. keep learning and read and ask questions from others. Cheers from Colorado
My goal is to join thy AMM American mountain man. Before I do l am trying to knock a few things off the list I have to complete when I finally sending my application. So I’m documenting it as I go. thank you for your comment.
That’s awesome the AMM from what I have seen is a rock solid true to the original design as far as I know. I’ve been doing American Revolution as a colonial Hunter, and Farmer, it’s been about 30 years I have been doing this. I started out for a few years doing the fur trade era. I wish you all the best luck on your journey. God bless you. Keep your powder dry and watch your top knot.

Just keep in mind there's the Hollywood version mountain man , some go with that , I perferd the real 1825 mountain man , look at all Alfred Jacob Miller paintings. Have fun 👍
Thanks for the comments, yes, I’ve been a big fan behind the scenes of Hollywood films for years. Like the fact that Jeremiah Johnson is actually based off, John Johnson also known as liver, eating Johnson, which the movies based off of. Hollywood is well known for rewriting stories, even if it’s based on facts, so they can incorporate entertainment, humor, and drama to the story. three things hope for from the movies you can get his ideas of the outfits that the mountain men would’ve worn during that time. In movies, maybe at least 30% or less is factual where the rest is just fiction.
So is this the mob that they wouldn't let in to Burning Man? Actually they look like they had a lot more fun. Very interesting theme. But it doe look sorta Sausage Party-ish, if ya know what I mean? But, ehh, whatever welds your joint!
I have always wondered about the Robert Redford movie, Jeremiah Johnson. The old mountain man rode up to him as he was cooking a rabbit. What were the horses eating in four feet of snow?
The issue i have, is did you trap those animals yourself, harvest their bones, teeth, pelts, etc and eat their meat? Definitely not a mountain man then.
The wolf claws are actually resin. A bison hunt would actually be too costly for me. You can actually buy those online, but I actually bought them in Jackson hole, Wyoming, and a couple different shops. But sometimes I find bones or they’re given to me.
Actually, the turnout was pretty good. I was there early in the morning there was stuff going on bye the mountain man museum traders row was in another pageant in another location so it was quite spread out.
Hey, nice video, but you need a better camera. Get an iPhone or something that takes an image that fills the whole screen. Us old guys need big letters and big pictures. I liked your camp, pretty cool. I liked that you showed a lot of Barter Town, most videos don't show very much of that. You got a good shot of that Caddy and I was particularly interested in that car since we were wondering if anyone just brought an old car without Fury Roading it out. I also have an old Caddy and I don't want to mess with it like that. I has shit paint and basically looks like the one on your video but its old and cool and it would be fun to bring it. We missed out on Wasteland this year but we aim to go next year. Then I can see it all for myself. Thanks
