Washed-up metal guitarist tryna make my way in the world. Hope you enjoy the content. Chelsea Grin Lead Guitarist 2008-2011 instagram.com/staffordmp801 www.tiktok.com/@staffordm801
I’m learning this song but goddamn!! I can’t get the speed down ! My pinky and entire side of my forearm just burn lol It’s a pretty fast sequence and the string skipping makes it challenging I hadn’t realized it’s actually you man !! I’m a huge fan of! Saw you guys with Lorna shore here in San Diego about 4-6 years ago can’t remember
@consumedbydeceit5942 ya it's gets easier man. I actually departed from the band over ten years ago so it wouldn't have been me you saw. That's cool though bro their live show seems cool I've seen some videos
@@StaffordM801 They played the entire Desolation of Eden album You were there in spirit 🤘🏽 Me and the homie plan on covering this song Once uploaded it’d be an honor if you checked it out
After using your original video to learn this all those year ago, it was incredible to stumble on this when I got the inclination to relearn. Full circle moment. Glad to see you're still killing it dude, these riffs are as hard as when I first heard them. Looking forward to see whay you've got lined up in the future
Oh my god, Mr Stafford!, it’s honor to see that after your exit from Chelsea Grin and seeing you later on still killin it on the guitar is just absolutely phenomenal, I’ve started getting better at Chelsea grin songs especially with some parts that included sweep picking. Much love to you man and I hope you are still killin the game!🖤🫶🏽
Finalmente achei seu canal. Você é incrível cara, CG sem você e os demais da formação original nunca mais foi a mesma. Gostaria de ver mais músicas suas, tente entrar no ameonna 🔥
@ehiguessso2248 LOL ya that stretch can be pretty gnarly, but it gets easier. can do it an octave up and it's a little easier, sounds cool, and I think I how they do it live now or did for a while
This is the member of Chelsea grin that made the Chelsea grin sound. This band turned to shit after this guy stopped writing and playing with the group
Currents my favorite band, solid job. Respectfully, screams were on point but singing sounded like you were kinda talking more instead of actually singing, if that makes sense. Keep it up brother
Thanks so much for uploading this! I hope life has been treating you well, over the years! Your contributions have added a lot of value to my life and I really appreciate all the work you put in and sacrifice you made to bring this to us in a live setting, as well!
@@StaffordM801Okay, I just found your page and you playing is still as sharp as ever. I was hoping you had tabs that way I could load them into Guitar Pro and play along to learn them.
@rickgillette2470 what song or parts do you want? maybe could do a quick upload or something w tabs. can always put the youtube player on a slower playback speed to play along too if needed.
@@StaffordM801 There are quite a few songs I would want but I understand it’s time consuming. I work 60-72 hours a week so I’m not able to devote as much time as I would love to learning songs. I will take a look after work to be more specific on what songs but I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Every album you worked on was a work of gold . Glad you’re still playing . If you did a play through of last breath I’d probably shat my trousers . Hope life is treating you well 🫡
Idk if you’re still in touch with Alex but, it would be cool if you could feature on one of their songs for their new band! Idk if you’ve heard but Alex, Jacob, and Pablo formed a band called ameonna
Did you join the band before or after they changed the name to Chelsea Grin? Just wondering if you were part of the music they released under the name Ahaziah!
I joined while it was still called Ahaziah, but i think we changed it before I helped write anything for the band. We changed it when Andrew joined the band which was not long at all after I joined.
if i do it probably wont be a full playthrough like this. just showing some parts or something. what songs or parts would you want specifically to see?
@ThotdFan127 im tryin bro. i sent him the demo and he seemed like he was down to do some drums for it but i haven't heard any updates lately. i know he's busy with his kids and all
Dude your songwriting improved so much on My Damnation and it forever hurts me to know we will never know where the band could have gone if you had been around to make a sequel to that album. Jake keeps telling us on Reddit that you basically came up with everything on your own and if I recall basically wrote the album in one month. That said I can't blame you for stepping down as that band's schedule was so intense with zero breaks.
That's nice of him to put a good word in for me. A lot of that album was just ideas I had that we didnt have much time to build on as a group. Most of our best songs from that album were the ones we did collaborate on though. Ive actually been writing lately and have a song pretty much done, but I want to make music to bring people closer to God. Seems like those guys arent really down for that. Besides that I'm living in another state so theres that too...
Though my guitar playing I’ve always looked up to shredders and guys who can rip. But when I discovered My Damnation, particularly this song, and I learned how to play it, I realized how important and crucial having tight rhythm was, and what it can do. This is still my go-to song for when I’m dialing a nice beefy chuggy tone. This and Cursed. Never thought I’d have the chance to say this to you, though RU-vid lol, but thank you for helping me develop my rhythm chops. It really went a long way for me, and plenty others I’m sure.
Hey brother, I’ve been a fan since 2010, happy to see you making music again. I even remember when you uploaded this song the first time before it ironically got copyrighted. Jake said Alex reached out to you about a Ameonna collab but then later said it unfortunately isn’t meant to be. Is it true?
Alex did reach out, but there wasnt really mention about Ameonna. I asked if he was still making music and he said he thought about it sometimes. This was a while back so maybe it wasnt a thing then. I also dont live near them anymore so that might make a collab challenging.
Thank you for the reply! You’re still one of my favorite guitar players to this day. I love the simple leads you used to write. Deathcore is so chuggy now a days and boring. I hope we get the chance to hear some more of your music through this channel or any other project. I’m curious, was any of the vocals from you on the recorded albums or did you only perform them live?
@ZS-et3zc nah just a few low screams live to double a couple parts. only started doing it towards the end of my time in the band. Ive been working on a song for a while now and i think its close to finished besides the vocals and then mixing. probably will be a good while before i release it though
This is one of the greatest deathcore songs ever written. Love your guitar playing style. Did you write most of this song? Also, any thoughts of joining Ammeona?
@@StaffordM801 Insane that Revenant and False Sense of Sanity were barely played live and I don't think Cast was until 2016 when they did the album in full. Shame cuz Those are my favorite cuts from the album next to Human Condition and Sonnet.
It's "when you need to audition, but only have one finger." He does the whole thing one hand one finger. I just really enjoyed the melody, so I decided to learn it. There's a tab video for it too that I learned from, I highly recommend that.
