I’m happy to see that Eagle Creek updates this duffel quite a bit, but I’m hoping one day that they will add a shoulder strap to it. It’s been the only thing that’s preventing me from purchasing.
Hi Connor, thanks for the constructive feedback! I got to use this bag on a short vacation recently and it was pretty great as my one and only bag through the airport, carry-on, etc. This one is the 40 liter. I could see how a shoulder or cross body strap could help. I used the included backpack straps while I was moving through airports and those proved to be very handy. Did you know the backpack straps have a clasp in the middle that turn them into a single carrying handle? Pretty cool.
You should have included the Hiyak and Rassler models too. I wear 2E and 4E width shoes and can confirm the Brewer is great for wide feet, it also has a built in arch support which makes a big difference in comfort, for those of us that get leg and back pain when wearing shoes without arch support. These are all great for SUP too, if you don’t want to be barefooted on a paddleboard.
is it correct to say the loyak offers max. grip on a smooth slippery surface - such as a stone slipway? The brewer slightly less grip on such surface, but will also grip better on rougher ground like loose clay? thanks
The Rassler and Hiyak have G.ss (max sticky) rubber, and the Brewer 2.0 and Loyak have G.15 (more durable, less sticky) rubber. I think the Brewer 1.0 might have had G.ss rubber. Given the same tread pattern, the sticky rubber will still grip better on rough/loose ground. They also offer the TR1 and boots with a luggier pattern if you want to optimize for rough/loose ground. Rough/loose ground will wear shoes out faster than smooth ground, and typically more miles are being covered in that situation. I know that's more info than you asked for, but I hope that helps put it all together.
Also the orange turns red when wet. Olive turns military drab. Let's lighten that foot webbing, because, who wants expensive Birks that leave polarized tan lines. Also, skin cancer is not a joke.

As a lifetime guide, my Keens and Chacos live at home. I love this shoe. It's goofy, but so are Keen's. They said the same shit when salamander came on and they had to rebrand under the name Chaco. No toe protection, it doesn't matter. Buy the gear that helps you boat. That is my boat shoe but not my hiker. And never the twain shall meet. Its a good boat shoe. Or show...
Hi there. You could do that, yes, but it's really meant to be a ground cloth. If you're looking for a lightweight, packable personal blanket we would more highly recommend the Rumpl Nanoloft Puffy or Rumpl Down Puffy. I normally wear a 12 in the TR1 mesh and Brewer 2.0 I am a 13. Loyak runs true to size i wear a 12 and can even wear socks with them without any issues.
The Camelback 1 or 1.5 Liter bladder works pretty well. Not sure about the Palm 1.5 Liter, but it would be nice to know if it did fit. Sounds like you're saying it doesn't.
