There was some controversy about this adventure because it was impossible for characters to die in it. What do other players think about that? Does it make the game more or less fun?
I think it would be best to use the same system of grit points, arcane gunshots, or maneuvres (whatever you want to call it), and then let each archetype have its own signature moves. I'd like to see the Marshall/ Paladin version too. I'm not sure about the spells. Perhaps only one or two of the archetypes could have spells.

What are you smoking man? Martials have gotten massively stronger with the new phb. All martials do significantly more damage than they ever did with the old phb. Humans are objectively better than they used to be also, as they get all the same stuff variant human got before, and on top of all that also get free re-roll every day, which is really good.
I don't smoke anything but thanks for contributing to the conversation. I can see your point that with the changes to weapons and some abilities, martials have improved. However, spellcasters have improved a lot more. Take the ranger for example, it falls into a bonus action concentration spell trap that basically limits it to maintaining hunter's mark and not using its other abilities. In some ways Rogues make better rangers than rangers now. You probably are not old enough to have played older versions of DnD in which wizards ran out of spells and had to use staves and daggers until they renewed their spell slots. Then cantrips were introduced but they were just quirky spells that added flavor. Now cantrips do damage, and spellcasters can churn out magical damage forever. Lastly, there is spell power creep. Cheers.
@@TheSpicyDungeoneer-qv5qh Cantrips are still very inefficient, martials are going to do more damage with their basic attacks than cantrips do at any level. And that's not even counting all the various bonus things martials get to add to their attacks from their class abilities. Only time full casters should be using cantrips past the very early levels is when the encounter is either very trivial, or in the stage where you are just mopping up the last couple enemies. Rangers are fine, people just need to stop hyper focusing on hunter's mark, yes they have couple class abilities that are keyed to it, but that doesn't mean you need to always use it. Think of it more like the cantrip for rangers, that they can use when they don't feel the need to use anything stronger, as they get so many free casts of it per day that they should never need to use a spell slot for it.
@@Klaital1 Are you saying that the Warlock's Eldritch blast is inefficient? Also, look at how origin feats have taken away builds like crossbow expert and polearm master. one DnD has nerfed 1st level builds. Now you have to wait until 4th level to do anything interesting.
@@Klaital1 We will have to agree to disagree about that. I played a crossbow expert and it was a hoot. Fighters have got to be able to fight. There should be more of this, like sword master, staff master etc.
I think there has been a real problem with hit point creep and power creep in 5e and 5.5e. Coupled with Death Saves, it means that death is not really a threat and therefore diminishes the game. No risj, no reward.
They would have just been way too similar to Aasimar flavor wise. Moving ability scores away from species was a GOOD thing, because now you don't get species typecast to only being useful for a few specific classes.
@@Klaital1 Yes, I agree. But it would have been good to see Beastfolk make an appearance being less like otherworld creatures, and more like animal spirits.
I am curious - how do you think dwarves have been feminized? Because I don't really see anything in their features that could be misconstrued for that?

I really don't like how they removed "Species" ability scores. Like imagine a tiny little Fairy having about as much strength by default as big mighty Goliath....
I prefer letting ability scores being free like in Tasha’s so I’m gonna keep using that rule at my tables. If they do have to be tied to something though I would pick backgrounds. I don’t like the new background system though because you have to an ASI, Feat, and theme that fits the fantasy of your character. What’s more is that custom background rules do not exist in the new PHB, they’re likely to be included in the new DMG. At my tables if I decide to run 2024 DnD then I will let my players make custom backgrounds.

While in the prone shooting position, the creature has an advantage to ranged attacks with a firearm or loaded crossbow. Melee attacks and other ranged attacks have disadvantage. Ranged attacks against the prone creature suffer disadvantage. Melee attack more than 5’ away also suffer disadvantage. Melee attacks within 5’ have advantage. The creature can crawl while prone at half their movement speed.

Thanks for sharing your ranking. It was interesting to listen to. I like the way that they did humans, but appreciate your perspective. To me, humans are generic on purpose, so an extra feat and a luck point (heroic inspiration) is a way to make the generic species fun and interesting. It also seems pretty powerful.

Sounds interesting. I've been working on a world heavily inspired by Norse mythology and pulp heroes (Conan, etc) myself. Probably won't use D&D rules though since I'm looking for something lower magic.
Yes, that is a problem I found. I created low-magic options but some players still wanted high magic fantasy. 5th edition (and 5.5) seems to double-down on that.
I wouldn't be surprised if this movement starts gaining more momentum, especially considering the copyright strikes Hasbro's lawyers have been putting on content creators.
I wrote the script as well as prompts, and used AI to add images and the voice. I don't really like my own voice so I thought I would experiment with ways to replace it. I used invideo, and will admit that it did not follow my script as exactly as I would have liked, but it was close enough to warrant using it. Sorry if you did not like it. There are plenty of videos on this channel where it is just me talking, you're welcome to check them out.
I'll be having my last D&D group gathering this weekend. I'll probably have to end all the characters just be sure it is my last campaign. I'll be revving up MCDM instead.
Yes, I wondered whether this would be a chance for many to exodus the game (or at least take a rest from it.) Unlike previous edition changes, many players and DMs will be stuck in limbo trying to use rules from 2 PHB and a DMG and MM that will also be replaced. Add to that all of the other books and there will be a lot of confusion and negotiation about which rules to use.
I'm not sure what exactly you are referencing but if it is Asmongold, I'm not associated with him or his team. His editor probably has more expensive equipment, and more knowledge about using it too.
Where does it end though? Does that mean that every DM who makes some homebrew content for their table has broken copyright law? Does that mean we all have to play in Forgotten Realms because that is the only IP that is licensed? The OGL ensures that people can make creative changes without legal or financial risk, and it keeps the game vibrant and multi-faceted.
@@TheSpicyDungeoneer-qv5qh I'd say ends with anyone who publishes something and profits from WotC's product, as if it wasn't for their product your add-on or variation of it wouldn't exist.
@@ofidiotabagista5259 I get where you are coming from but the OGL has been in existance for years, and so to take it away, would create a lot of uncertainty. I'm no copyright lawyer but this would discourage innovation. I think a better idea is to get involved in the distribution, which is exactly what Hasbro has done.
Just remember...Rulings, NOT Rules. The Rule of Cool should always take Precidence. Min/maxing is a video game mentally & has no place on a table. Goodman-Games line of 5E content and products which are collectively called, Fifth Edition Fantasy, is far better than WotC's's 5E products
