I hate those circlips.. I took the inner joint apart on my Mum's Golf to change the boot without bothering the outer CV joint.

im having water in the REAR passenger footwell instead of the front footwell and it appears only when the AC is on. What could it be? I'm guessing not this since this is in the front
@fiveforbiting
@fiveforbiting 10 дней назад
It likely is running under the front seats, to the back. You could also have leaking windshield base cowl, clogged (sunroof, AC, or windshield/battery) drains. These would leave water under the carpet, and if you don't pull them up, you may only notice when the AC adds to it. Since the surface of the carpet will usually dry out.
@v0lts
@v0lts 10 дней назад
@@fiveforbiting It was actually this AC drain plug, I fixed it yesterday. Didn't understand how it's possible for the front carpet to stay dry while the rear was soaked but made sense when I took it apart... front carpet has more foam and higher positioning, which is why the rear gets soaked through the visible part much sooner than the front... thanks for the comment anyways :)

My 98 2.8 A6 starts perfectly from cold but if it is hot after it has been sitting for about 20mins it has a long crank and likes the throttle depressed and I can't work out why. It has has a coolant sensor and fuel pressure valve so i may investigate the air temp sensor - thank you.

Found this somewhere online and I do not take any credits: I just copied this from a thread on Reddit. "Try adapting (also called basic reset) the clutch and see if it fixes your problem. Turn the car off, turn the key to II right before ignition, hold the throttle pedal down to the "button" for 20 seconds, release, turn the car all the way off (DO NOT REMOVE KEY) then back to II, then off again and then start the car. See if you feel a difference, you probably will."

Jsust a quick tip: the cement must be dry before you start the car, or you have big chances it will recreate holes because of the pressure. Before starting the car either wait around 24 hours or use a heat gun to help it dry faster

It's probably just safer to check the condition of the viscous coupling with the engine off as shown here, if it's easy to spin by hand then it's no good, if it's hard to spin by hand then it's probably good. I wouldn't put my hand in there when the engine is running because it may still catch suddenly. Good video and description of this contraption.

I always clean and grease guide pins with hi temp brake grease. I don't care if it's 'open system'. Never had any issues.
@autoyteng
@autoyteng 4 месяца назад
You don't should to do that. If the brake system is open, then the pinsdoes not need to be lubricated, read the official video from the developers of brake Ate developers. The pads will be less able to return to their original position after braking and, as a result, they will wear out quickly and the system will heat up.
