WOW! People hate any kinds of THEORY, but if they just know the importance of theories behind what they're doing (such as this one), they'll be far off better than ever.
The scientific explanation you have been giving is very good Sir. I feel ear training might be handy in a real-time performance. Starting from keyboard or piano before flute helps, as they are accurate in frequencies and are good for ear training...
I didn’t try Bansuri VSTs. My opinion is that only physical models are at least worth trying when it comes to these instruments. So far I have not seen a good Bansuri physical model.
No hard and fast rules. Depends on which of those two options is easier in a given passage. Typically, when Ma to Pa or Pa to Ma transition does not involve meend or gamak, it is easier to use the regular Pa. Also regular Pa to Dha1 transition is easier than the thumb Pa to Dha1.
Many keyed wood wind instruments like sax, Oboe, flute have this concept of multiple fingerings for the same note. Player chooses the one that best suits the situation.
I presume when you test, you find G to be 396Hz. When they say ‘tuned to 440Hz’, they mean A is set to 440 Hz. That is the standard. When A is set to 440 Hz, G should be 392 Hz. Your measurement says 396, and the difference is negligible. The difference could be a testing error. Even if it is the making error, it is really minor and negligible.
This instrument can detect half holing and gradual closing of a note hole and respond. However, my experience with this instrument is that half holing is unreliable. The designers did not put much emphasis on half holing accuracy, I believe. You can still make it work with some effort. But, unreliable. I believe a different version of this instrument should be made with focus on half holing accuracy.
@@VindyDays Thank you for such quick and detailed response. Do you know if they sell the IMU+breath controller module separately? I couldn't find it on the website or online
I am a self-taught flutist. I am not trained in any particular style. I am interested in helping other flutists trying to learn by themselves. If you are interested in learning classical music, I cannot help. Otherwise, I can guide and mentor.
