Your skill and creativity in editing is truly inspiring. A lot of people bandy around the phrase, 'Netflix quality', but your editing is top notch for this rapid style. You don't just use fast cuts, each cut is in a carefully curated sequence that tells the story without being overdone or cheesy.
Great video! I actually using Samyang 10mm T3.1 EF with micro 4/3 adapter (just because I need a lens for canon system too) It's very wide but there's several problems comparing to 9mm: very heavy, very big and sometimes you feeling that focus didn't right (at canon there is no such problem)
@MarrMart thanks! Ahh I see - I guess it's more to fit both systems, getting more use out of it. Did you also attach a speed booster with the m4/3 adapter? And if so does it show lots of vignetting on the edges?
@@TheCommodoreProductions If I attach dummy adapter then there will be no vignetting. Electronic adapter will show no vignetting too. But in photos you can see lens hood at top and below (but auto-crop hides. At 4k footage no lens hood either. And the other problem you can attach any filter to the lens. You need the expensive big thing to that. So the only solutions is to put glass of filter inside adapter or put the glass (or plastic) of filter to the lens.
Wow, the quality of your videos are phenomenal! Yeah that lens is a gem. BTW, the corner wobbles are not due to the rolling shutter. They are caused by wide angle distortion in combination with the IBIS. Panasonics newest cameras since the S5ii and G9ii have an electronic correction for it.
i can't believe you're able to pull such amazing clips out of this camera, as much as i love this lens, its still out of my budget, any alternative budget recommendations with af? I've been looking on some 7artisans but the ones i like don't have af
@raven7341 thanks! Honestly, it really depends on what you want to capture. If you are really looking to get a wide angle lens with the option of AF in a MFT system, i dont think there's many options. You could sacrifice the AF for manual focusing, which gives you more options and is also more budget friendly. I think at the end of the day, know what you prioritize and what you will be happy using for the long term or for the value. Seeing that you value AF (or at least from what I am interpreting) and want it to be more budget friendly, then I would wait for the 9mm Lumix lens to go sale or even buy it second hand (second hand option I think you can get a good price for it, so maybe do this).
@nigelbarrostoo thanks Nigel!🙏🏼🙌🏼 it's definitely a solid lens, though it be nice if it was also a focus by linear lens rather than wire lens at times - I tried it with a focusing system. But other than that and the distortions, I like this lens a lot!
Apart from you getting these amazing clean shots with the G85, which is insane all in on itself....You going out there with a gimbal and a camera, and not caring about what people think of you and just having fun and doing what you love doing, is a thing worth commmending you for. Really awesome job! And I gotta ask, is there any denosing and upscaling/sharpening used in your shots? As an ex g85 user I cant even comprehend that you're using the same camera I replaced because the shots didnt come out "clean" enough.
@borborcarcar thank you! Ya it's a bit "intimidating" to go out and film in public on your own, especially with more gear in use cause you will get looks from everyone haha. I still feel a bit like that depending on location - some spots are just for handheld and some spots I feel comfortable with a gimbal. I only sharpen shots that are out of focus a bit, which is every now and then. And I also warp stabilize (with no motion) my handheld still shots sometimes as well.
I was in the market for a wide angle lens for my mft cameras recently and this 9mm 1.7 was almost the one I chose. I rented it for a few spec shoots and one commercial shoot and I was really impressed with the quality of it, but after that I've had a chance to try the ttartisan 7.5mm f2 fisheye and I ended up buying it. The overall quality in 1080p is good enough and because of my 2 main clients being a gym and a boxing club the option to go fisheye is very nice, works well for real estate too if you de-fish it in post. The deal breaker for most people would be probably that you can't easily use filters with that lens and you don't get any AF even for photo use, but honestly for 140$ you can't complain much. Btw. Love your videos and especially your editing style! Your content inspired me to incorporate more dynamic editing into my own productions
Yes, ttartisan is a great choice to get given the pricing and what you needed it for! It's also on my radar of lenses to try, so perhaps I will get one one of these days. And thank you!!🙏
What's the camera gear item you've been patiently waiting on 👀?? **oh BTW, made the mistake on the rolling shutter part - it's caused by wide angle distortion and ibis. Thank you @Wildridefilms for the correction!
Very nice cinematic 🙌🔥 Can you suggest me some tips like I have 2 lens ( one is 25mm f1. 7 and 2nd one is 12-35mm f2.8 ) so what do you think which one is very go to lens and where I can use both lens to achieve cinematic from wide to mid tight shot ? One thing I know is 25mm gives more bokeh background...so any recommendations..your answer Would help me alot thank you 😇
Thank you! Actually the 12-35mm f2.8 is pretty versatile and achieves what you are looking for in terms of wide to mid shots. Though it isn't going to be the best for very low light situations given it's at f2.8 (but i think it still can work in decent low light, but not compared to the 25mm at f1.7). If you need to be fast with your lens focal changes, then the 12-35mm is for you, just get a portable light (if you are doing subject shots or anything that might be dark). If you can take your time with your shots, I would look at the 25mm f1.7 and 9mm f1.7 - these two are a good mid and wide angle lens. Hope that helps!
Amazingly well made, (almost) can't even believe you made it with a G85. You've mastered this camera and are on your way to mastering videography in general.
This was such a great video! I love the cinematic style you've captured on your travels, it's something I want to try to learn and reciprocate as I've just bought my first ever camera (the g80). Do you have any recommendations for settings how tips on how to capture this cinematic style? And how different is the footage you shoot compared to after you've colour graded it? Colour grading is another thing I want to learn. Also loved the focus on sound design when you were in the onsen!
@leefy28 thank you 🙌🏼 glad you liked the video! So settings, I actually have a video on my channel that talks about optimizing your G85 to maximize it's capabilities. But I'll list out some main ones here: 1. Shoot in 4k 24fps with your camera 2. Turn on zebra settings in your camera (for highlight detection so you can adjust the lighting setting for your camera) 3. Use manual focusing (the push button to focus method) 4. Turn on focus peaking (it'll help you see if you're focusing correctly) 5. Pay attention to your exposure meter, try to have it at +-0, but adjust accordingly to your environment 6. Framing a shot correctly (this is the most important one, as it'll be the core to your cinematic approach) 7. Use natural picture profile - I forgot the settings of this on the top of my head as I'm typing this out haha, but it's in the video I made, as mentioned previously There's definitely some more, but this will be a good base for you to get things started. Hopefully this helps!
for the focus are you using Manual focus? if yes, are you using focus puller or Lidar such as PDMOVIE or DJI focus pro? color profile must be natural with -4 -4 -2 -1. but I like the grade and just purchase your luts.. awesome
The focus - just using the manual focus, but instead of using the lens ring I use the AF/AE Lock button on the back - make sure the indicator is on MF. I am actually testing out PDMovie at the moment - will make a video on that as well to give some insight on how it works with the camera And glad you like the grade! Enjoy the LUTs!
the colors grading is fantastic , how do u fix skin tones , some clips the faces are a little bit yellow, do you use dctls, how do u transform it to darker rich colors
you don't, unless you can utilize something like Timewarp in Adobe After Effects when editing. But I don't think the results would be that good. If you would like to have slow-motion then use 60 fps on 1080p. 4k at 30 fps can work too, just not as slow
I understand the process of removing the black edges, adding an adjustment layer, and then applying the motion tile effect, but what did you do after that? Did you move the layer to the original file? It happened so quickly that I couldn't follow it :(
Great video! The best of the best from every G85 videos. Every second of that - amazing! Can I ask a question about Helios? Did you use simple adapter without focal reducer that gives more light and wide look?
Thank you!🙌🏼 So I used both a normal adapter and focal reducer. - m43 to m42 mount adapter to helios - m43 to ef focal reducer x.71 mount, then ef to m42 adapter to helios Without a focal reducer, it doesn't give it more light, and it is zoomed in 2x. So if it's at 50mm and you adapt normally then it'll be at 100mm
The transition to Hong Kong with that upbeat music transition native to the culture is sublime. So 🔥🔥🔥 . This is the documentary/movie style videos that I find myself drawn to. Incredible work. Thank you. Stay tuned for my work as well. I'm learning from the best.🫡🤌🏾
@@capturebyparitosh thanks! Yes my previous travel cinematics I used the 12-60mm kit lens. Actually a lot of my vids I used the kit lens - I got the panasonic 9mm more recently and used it on this trip so it's the first time I'm showcasing it on my channel here
Awesome 😍🙌 so what picture profile and setting do you use? Do you also use specific luts? Colors looks too good 💫 i have gh5 with 12-35mm f2.8.. Do you think i need to upgrade on vLogL? Because higer frame rates only in 8bit colors
@@ironman9143 thanks! Picture profile I'm using natural, and I use my own luts, I have a free and paid ones link in description! Gh5 is a better camera in terms of features, so I think you should be using vlog if I remember correctly, cause you have more color grading potential since it's a higher bit than the g85. I mostly film in 4k 24fps, so if you film in that frame rate you can utilize the higher bit for colors (again this is just on top of my head, so just be sure to look it up!)
Thanks! I'm not sure with that camera particularly as I've never used it or seen anyone I know use it. But I think if you want more "cinematic", I think there's really just good framing in general. The other two I would then add be good lighting and then a lower aperture if shooting subjects ( a lower f stop - example: f.2.8 or lower) so you can have some depth of field when shooting your Subject - aka blurry background effect. I suggest you just watch some movies and copy some shots that you like, and then you can learn and see what works best for you, then you'll start making your very own cinematic shots before you know it!
