The last thing I needed this year is another expense. This morning I discovered a broken Microwave. A quick youtube search brought you to the rescue, Thanks friend, you saved the day!
I got everything off and it looks like the lower connection of the spring came off. I cant tell if it broke off or not. the upper part of the spring hook is ok. Advice? Thank you so far i have dangling plastic insert and havce hooks out
Moved into this house a few years ago. Everything was old save for the Samsung appliances. Oddly enough, both the Samsung oven and microwave malfunctioned. The circles on the oven top are at max heat regardless of the setting and in the case of the microwave, the part didn’t break off of the key but instead broke off of the door the spring would be attached to. Now I’m considering drilling a hole near the bottom and attaching string or a rubber band to the spring to make it reach while still maintaining tension.
In my case , it wasn't the small plastic piece that was broken but rather the part that hooks into the door frame. Luckily there are metallic protrusions which I was able to hook the spring into to give it a similar tension. Thanks for saving me a lot of money
Thank you Biren! Great video. I had the exact symptom your video described, but in my case, the plastic anchor piece that the other end of the spring attaches to had broken. So I hooked the spring to a nearby hole in the metal inner perimeter of the door, reseated the latch piece, and my door works. Hopefully this will keep my 12-year old Samsung OTR microwave working for a while longer. Your video was super helpful, especially showing how to pry off the trim piece and describing how the latch is intended to work.
My guy..you are a life saver... Thank you 🙏 the little plastic piece that holds the spring broke so I just looped it to the metal portion. It had a small hole in it. Worked perfectly...
The bottom connection for the spring on the frame of the door broke, so i drilled into the metal frame next to where the plastic connection was and connected the spring there. Problem solved. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for posting the video. Repair took less than 3 minutes. Our hook wasn’t broken but the bottom part broke off. Just had to hook it to the door instead and voila… all fixed. Thx again.
my latch on the door side was like a loose tooth so i bent the hook on the spring and drilled a hole in the side of the door problem solved thank you for this video your awesome!
Thank you!!! Although you made this 10 years ago, letting you know that it is still helping a lot of people who are not good at fixing stuff like me. I fixed it this morning and am very happy that I could manage to do something by looking at the helpful videos posted by a bunch of people like you. Grateful ❤!
Thank you bro!! Fixed in under 5 mins! Mine was caused by the spring being rusty on the middle part. I just hooked it on the upper part of the plastic to increase the tension and bam everything works now!
Second time I've had to reference this very helpful video. My issue after a broken latch was both the upper and lower 'holes' that the latch locks into to stay in place 3:30 (thin garbage plastic) snapped off. So when I was opening the door it would pull on the plastic frame you have to remove to access the latch and all come apart. Multiple pieces of gorilla tape and it's fine. Speaking of pieces, this microwave - like my old Samsung fridge - is a piece of s**t
Thank you also from me! While I was following your instructions I found that my bottom spring connection was the one that was broken as were many of the other folks, but I also noticed there is a small square hole in the metal frame right next to the lower connection and I just hooked the spring into that and it works great.
Still working in 2024! Unfortunately for me it was the door side, but there are some square metal holes i was able to latch the spring onto. Won't last forever but the door closes!
