M question is for the author, did the women you met in Heeramandi feel they had no choice but to join this trade, not the ones who were born into it but the poor desperate women with no previous family connections or education. My thought goes to the floods in 2021 that wiped out farms and entire villages in Pakistan. Did these women after relocating not have alternatives like domestic service in middle or upper middle class homes like many do in India especially in the big cities ? Has the state made education accessible or is it just not possible for them to be a part of the formal system ?
I worked with Jane on her early events for Charity Projects and Comic Relief, and she really is the most extraordinary person. Thank you Richard and Martin for this fascinating talk.
just got my Literati box a few days ago! love this program 💗 i’ve also just posted a video of me doing the treehouse design activity on my channel ✨ it’s also great that you can pick what books you get based on age range- my little brother can get younger books with this too! thx. ☺️
Hi, Literati! This video is a repeat of "Introduction to your Literati Book Fair" from your fair playlist, and is not the same as the "Set Up Your Book Fair" video on the Literati Open Book page. Is an update possible? Having the set-up video on RU-vid would make things easier for sharing with volunteers. Thanks!
I so miss the Literati Club. I just finished Mrs., and this was so fun to watch and listen to the discussion about it. That was the wonderful thing about the Literati Book Club for the Adults the discussions, the Author interviews - as well as all the various clubs you could bounce around between month to month. I wish they would bring it back..
Just read Sing, unburied, sing. Deeply touched by it. Thanks Jesmyn! You have my admiration. I enjoy the care with which Cristian Kiefer navigates his awareness about …. Let’s call it white privilege
I'm loving Literati and even though I didn't get to hear this live, I'm grateful for the opportunity to digest this book a bit more with the additional context.
Great interview! I absolutely loved both collections. I've returned to both of them several times; they are so insightful and hilarious. I can't wait for the next one.
Loved this! Thanks Austin! Tim Kreider is one of my favorite recent "essayists". Keep Going with the great work! Hope to see you speak at home in Central Ohio some day!
