Congrats! It's always nice to see Emerald egg hunts. Also, I think Magical Leaf's animation looks best in the GBA games. Also also, i only just noticed how funny it is to see Wes' and Brendan's models side by side. Wes has this overly dramatic and serious pose, like "Hurrgh! Bring it on!" while Brendan is like "'Sup? It's cool."
Yeah, XD shiny locks all of the shadows. You’re able to hunt the starter Eevee, the pokespots, the trades, and the gen 2 starters from mt battle without modding XD. It also has uncatchables in the battle cds with the simulator.
Personally I'm a fan of a 1 HP burned Taunt turn 1 (from a Pokémon with Speed 82 or greater), Imprison every move but Transform via Smeargle turn 2 (again, preferably out-speeding Mew with a Speed of 82+), switch to a 255 catch rate Pokémon of your choice turn 3, reduce its HP to anywhere from exactly 1 HP to 74% HP (via False Swipe, Night Shade, Seismic Toss, Super Fang, or damage calced move(s) against a Transformed Mew, etc.) + put it to sleep turns 3 and 4 (a False Swipe + Spore Smeargle works great here), then just throw any sort of Poké Ball you'd like turn 5 and it'll be a 100% chance to catch! This all happens with a 0% chance to fail to Metronome RNG, thanks to Taunt counting Metronome as a status move (since it doesn't have a base damage listed). It's important to note you MUST die directly after using Taunt turn 1, as Taunt only lasts two turns in Gen 3. If you started with the Imprison Smeargle turn 1 there is a 25% chance Mew will use Transform turn 1 unimpeded, which would result in either Struggle every subsequent turn, or a possible Metronome fail if you end the effects of Imprison by switching out. I'm planning to use this strat and honestly it's just fun doing test captures every now and again to see it work flawlessly each time. It's very satisfying, even though it does take a bit of work to set up (getting Imprison on Smeargle can be a pain, as it can't be Sketched if Imprison fails the turn you try to copy it).
Grats! I'm looking to 4x this hunt soon! May I ask how you get the event in other languages? I have 1 JPN and 1 Spanish copy of emerald and I'm not sure how to get the new event on those carts. Happy holidays!
I think there’s a few different ways of accessing the event, but I just followed this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_73xH_cQfNg.htmlsi=xItVG_9k3vHhT0ZI good luck if you end up hunting it!
A Japanese copy, you say? If you wish to avoid extra hardware purchases and/or the use of external hardware/software, I know of a terribly recorded (but hopefully still usable guide) ~2 hour long playlist that shows uncut footage of obtaining an 0x085F Pokémon via the Pomeg glitch, which enables the use of a long list of box name codes published by Sleipnir17. One of these gives you the event item and flag, allowing you to freely travel to and from Faraway Island to hunt Mew at your leisure. Edit: the playlist I made is only for Japanese copies, the coding for that language specifically makes the arbitrary code execution used different than the other languages Emerald was released in.
