i came across a mentally disabled guy on my way out shopping once (he was in his 30's) he was near a park and was actually being picked on and pushed over by a bunch on young lads ...i had to intervene as i couldn't just ignore it.....the little idiots tried threatening me ...but me being me i don't back down from anyone no matter the size or amount of them , they eventually left. he asked me to please not hurt him like those boys (as he put it) and it was very clear he was mentally impaired i walked him home which was near by at which point i found his carer (his mother) was outside completely frantic with panic and in tears ...as i walked up and eventually managed to get her to calm down and explained what happened ...she cried lots and she told me he was born with severe mental impairment (mental age of about 10) and while she was cleaning up he escaped (he wanted to go to the park near by) she gave me such a strong hug and thanked me so much , cops turned up soon after while we where chatting so again had to explain what happened and the cops gave me a hug and a thanks too ....the cops even asked me that since i did that good deed they would gladly give me a lift to where ever i was going lol (i declined of course since it was not any issue at all) every time i pass that area and see him he comes rushing over and gives me a hug which such a smile on his face and his mum is always in the background with such a proud look and smile on her face lol
This is awful and breaks my heart. Even if he had a intellectual disability, he still should not be treated like that full stop. I would definitely help this guy, I can't understand why some people have so much difficulty. Just not very nice people. I have a disability myself and I sometimes mix words up. I've had people hanging up the phones on me, I've been spoken to like a piece of crap, if not I'm totally ignored. People are so horrible. Its a fact that most disabled people don't like going out on their own because it's stressful asking for help or trying to simply order a drink from a cafe, ask for directions or even trying to get on public transport. The gouvernment loves stripping away every bit of support they need too through assesments (in the UK) so most disabled are isolated from society. Not every disabled person is lucky to have reliable friends or family members.
Many of the people dismissing and ignoring are probably good people! So what is going on here? Is it hardwired, is it learned? If we judge them harshly - then we are also judging, rather than opening our minds... When the guys said of we do this, we are treating him like he has an intellectual disability"! That was the most shockingly bad part of the video (meant as a statement of righteousness). So what if the disability is mental, physical or both! He didn't mean it negatively, but he wasn't "aware". I feel for the people who seem to have a spiritual disability...
I started going to O.A.T.S which is a place for people who are disabled and who need lovewhen I was 7 I loved working with people who are disabled because there's so much fun there so kind and lovingand it hurts me so much to see someone so rude I'm 12 now and I would stand up for anyone even if they're not disabled people just need to give other people respect I love kids adults anybody who is disabled because even if I don't know them I will love them because they go through so much stuff and I could never understand what they go through and I would stand up for anyone
Why did the journalist/narrator label the gentleman as "inspirational" ? Makes me want to vomit. The guy, in my opinion, is doing nothing out of the ordinary. What is out of the ordinary, is how he is treated when he asks for directions.
This is a disgusting comment. He is inspiring other people with disability to chase their dreams. As you can see in this video, how people with a disability are treated in public. So badly. Your attitude and what’s seen in this video contribute to over 70% of our homeless having a disability, too scared to be treated this way.

If I would of been there and I would of saw that guy just wave him off I would of blocked the Curb Cut and not let him pass to the cross walk and I would of told him that he wouldn't be allowed to use OUR Curb Cut to access the crosswalk. I then would of said "That guy was talking to you trying to ask you a question. What gives you REGULAR the right to just blow us off"? Ramps are for Disabled people and stairs are for Regular people. I would of been a DICK to that guy and those that just passed by without a care. I personally feel like total crap when I can't understand someone and it is hard for me to pick out what they are saying? I myself do have disabilities and if people actually stopped and at least said "I'm sorry I can't understand what you are saying" and you were to try to reach out to ask someone for help then it would show that you really do care and that you really are trying to understand.

I'm disabled and I'm glad God made me disabled he turns it into good things alot of people just don't see it which sadly they miss the good part asking God why
Life is a test.just be patient .once we enter paradise with good deeds that's where the real fun begins . The people who ignored Jordan they have a special place for them surely it won't be paradise......
They should really teach about this kind of thing in school. I honestly had no clue what cerebral palsy even was before this video. It's good he's trying to educate people.
I feel that indeed in should be taught. Because cerebral palsy is so often taken for some sort mental retardation when the reality for even the mildest of case is just being stuck in a body who's been stuck in molasse. The shame that he has been put on only because of people assumptions... It's really the huge problem in most cases.
I like Jordan. Seen at 5:05 and 5:15 is how people should behave towards people with disabilities. If a disabled man drops his cane, STOP AND HELP HIM!!! If a disabled man is hunting for the restroom and asks, stop and help him.
I can realate to this because I was bullied and herasssed in middle school and in high school because I had speech problems like I could not pronounce words correctly and I had have bad eye twitches and people just look at me weird all the time in public but now that I’m graduated from high school I still get made fun of at work but honestly I just learned to just don’t fight with them and just ignore them and walk away
